Is there some sort of political intrigue behind this, or just some demented individuals?
Wait a minute, that could be an oxymoronic question.
And now I have got some additional strange updates below-
The corpse of the former Cyprus president, Tassos Papadopoulos, has been recovered by police three months after it was mysteriously snatched from the grave
The body was found dumped at a cemetery in a suburb of Nicosia late on Monday following an anonymous telephone tip-off to police on the eastern Mediterranean island."DNA identification has confirmed that the body discovered does indeed belong to former Cyprus president Tassos Papadopoulos", according to Michalis Katsounotos, a police spokesman.
The marble slab covering the tomb weighed 39st (250kg) and would have taken three or four men to move it, investigators said.
Police described the bizarre act of desecration as "deliberate and carefully planned" but there has been no claim of responsibility and no leads as to the perpetrators of the crime.
Three people were arrested in Cyprus Tuesday after the body of former President Tassos Papadopoulos, stolen from its tomb three months ago, was found in a shallow grave in another cemetery, police said.
Police said they had arrested two Greek Cypriots and an Indian.
Contradictions?
Earlier, Justice Minister Loucas Louca said the thieves had made a ransom demand for the return of the body, although no money was paid. "There was no political motive," he added.
The family says-
A spokesman for the Papadopoulos family denied a ransom request was made
Interesting!
So this case has caused some 'agitation' on a number of levels and the Justice Minister wants the people to know the motivation was financial, though the family denies this?
I am leaning to some sort of political intrigue....
totally bizarre, pen, and morbid.
ReplyDeleteit is, it really is.
ReplyDeleteAnd I first I thought this is just one of those grave robber stories, but, I think there is more to this then meets they eye.
