The Kingston Whig-Standard quotes sources as saying Col. Russell Williams attempted to kill himself Saturday morning.
Sources say Williams wrote a suicide note in mustard on the wall of his segregation cell, saying his affairs are now in order and his feelings are too much to bear.
The paper reports staff were able to bust into his cell and rescue Williams after he used a cardboard toilet roll stuffed with more foil and cardboard to stuff down his throat in an apparent bid to suffocate himself.
He has been charged with first degree murder in the deaths of 27-year old Belleville woman Jessica Lloyd and 37-year old CFB Trenton Corporal Marie-France Comeau.
Williams is also charged in two September 2009 home-invasion sexual assaults in Tweed, Ontario.
