Israel readies a whitewash, uh, I mean 'investigation'

In the process of whitewashing, cripes did I say that again, I mean earnestly investigating the horrific murder of activists in International waters, Israel will point fingers at the activists.

Israel hopes inquiry will turn spotlight on activists

Yes, the activists made Israel murder them. The activists made Israel attack them. Israel is the real victim here. Being forced by the despicable international community to do something!

"The decision to establish a committee to investigate the Gaza flotilla raid was made to appease the international community", said Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu at a meeting of his Likud party on Monday.

Note, he doesn't mention truth? Getting to the bottom of things?
Israel is simply at the mercy of the international community!

From what I am reading, this is an exercise in public relations, spin, or my personal favourite - perception management.

Israel has set up a 3 man panel to 'investigate' and has appointed two foreign observers.

The 3 man panel consists of Yaakov Tirkel, 75, who will work alongside retired major general Amos Horev, 86, and Shabtai Rosen, 93, a professor of international law.

The two foreign observers are "friend of Israel" David Trimble and a Canadian Ken Watkin.

Regarding David Trimble....

"I have to question the intention of the Israeli government in appointing David Trimble on the panel," she said.

"Many will question just how serious or impartial an investigation Israel has initiated when at this early stage they send a very clear message to the world that only those supportive of Israel will be in a position to investigate what was a criminal act of international piracy."

If anyone has the scoop on Wilkins, let me know? I see he was involved with 'investigating' Rwanda, which leads me to believe he is a cover-up kind of guy also.

What powers will Trimble and Watkins actually have?

-They would not be able "to vote in relation to the proceedings and conclusions of the commission."
-The two could also be denied access to information that could "cause substantial harm to national security or to the state's foreign relations."

It would seem limited powers? But, nice window dressing right?

No troops who were involved with the attack will be testifying!

-Israel has made clear the committee will not hear any direct testimony from troops involved in the raid.

This is an investigation you can believe in!
(I am being facetious, of course)

  1. Trimble is discredited.

    - Aangirfan

  2. This isn't going to work. It doesn't matter how hard Israel tries to continue to portray herself as the perpetual victim, they've used the sympathy well up - it's empty and the whole world knows this.

It couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch.

The thing is, people get sick and tired of listening to whiners (believe me - I'm fed up on a personal level with a uberwhiner myself). Eventually, they snap - no more sympathy, no more guilt - just a hefty dose of: Go F*ck yourself.

Gee can ya tell I'm burned out and fed up?

pfft... fuck Israel, fuck whiners everywhere.

  3. Oh, and yes I know I was whining a bit there eh??

oh well... to heck with all.

  4. Aangirfan:

at this point I think it is safe to say Israel's investigation of itself, is discreditted.

we all got to whine sometime...

but, we do not need to all the time.

try to have a good day, ok?

  5. The one thing that you can be sure of in this so called investigation is that if it comes out of a Jews mouth,"IT"S A LIE"

  6. Trimble: "One of the great curses of this world is the human rights industry,"

    from here:

  7. good god, trimble appears to be another a-hole who got an award for some unknown and unknowable reason.
    Like Obama!

  8. Problem is Pen,
Even though the Israelis have been totally discredited by us, and by any slightly thinking person . . . the regular joe has a political awareness of a peanut, and simply parrots the propaganda thay have been fed. Hardly any person I have ever "met on the street" actually has an opinion not totally based on the lies and propaganda fed to them by mainstream television, radio and newspaper.

I am sorry, but I disagree with all of your optimism, folks, I really do. What I see is the regular person NOT asking "where is that story about Israel attacking the ship in international waters and killing those activists?". First, because it's not polite or acceptable to broach any kind of political subject in civilised society (note dripping sarcasm), and secondly and more importantly, to say anything negative about Israel is taboo - you might as well shout out loud that you are a jew-hater.

People have been conditioned to not be able to talk about Israel in anything other than slightly positive tones or better . . . they have been cowed into sibmission by the most powerful mind conditioning the world has ever seen.

My feeling is, before the world REALLY reacts with an instinctive and gut/natural instinct of rebellion against Israel . . . that it will require a much, much bigger event (see: more death).

    Wait for it.

  9. slozo:
    more death, good god.
that will be the Palestinians of course.
