Fukushima is not Chernobyl, it is worse.

I want to put a temporary wrap on Fukushima. I am burnt out on the subject. It is a crisis and will continue to be a crisis for some time to come. It will effect us all, globally.
It will increase cancer, leukemia and other diseases, globally.
It will increase birth defects, globally.
Despite those realities, the main stream media and other powerful institutions give us all - spin.
The constant comparisons to Chernobyl. What is the point?
We have the talking heads assuring us this is no Chernobyl.

So I will tell you right now, to quote the words of my wise husband, this is not Chernobyl, it is Fukushima.

This is not one power plant-Chernobyl
It is FOUR nuclear reactors-Fukushima

This is not happening in a sparsely populated area.(Chernobyl)
This is taking place in an area that is densely populated.(Fukushima)

No MOX at Chernobyl!
MOX Fuel involved at Fukushima

Just one of the 4 plants at Fukushima, involved in varying stages of meltdown, that had an explosion is a MOX fuel plant. PLUTONIUM.
In fact a MOX reactor has never, ever, been involved in a nuclear catastrophe. Except for now, at this present time, at Fukushima. What are the ramifications of that? Unknown.

And all the spent fuel rods. What about them? The talking heads don't go there. I notice they talk spent fuel pools. Spent fuel pools are on fire, spent fuels pools have dried out.
What is in those spent fuel pools? Tons and tons of spent fuel rods! How much has burnt up? Melted down? How much radiation went straight up into the atmosphere when the MOX plant blew up, taking with it all of it's spent fuel rods??

How about if the western main stream media talks about that?

So you know what, Fukushima is not Chernobyl.
It is worse. On every count. It is worse.
More plants, more spent fuel rods, plutonium. I mean for cripes sakes!
And you know what else, 33 days have passed, 33 days of steady radiation emissions, into the air, into the soil and into the ocean. 33 DAYS with no end in sight.

To give you just an example here is a breaking news story-

Radiation surges above 4's fuel pool

Radiation has risen to high levels above the spent-fuel pool at reactor No. 4 and its temperature is rising, the nuclear safety agency said Wednesday, indicating the fuel rods have been further damaged and emitting radioactive substances.

As for the spent fuel pool at reactor no. 1?

The radiation level 6 meters above the spent-fuel storage pool at the crippled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant was measured at 84 millisieverts per hour Tuesday. Normally, it's 0.1 microsievert

That is today my friends, today.
"It's quite an amount"

Tokyo Electric Power Co. was unsure whether the surge in radiation was being caused by the spent fuel rods or radioactive material leaking from the reactor's pressure vessel.

It just keeps on going and going...... is it the reactors, is it the spent fuel, is it all of it and they don't have a clue!?

  2. If only we could get these words into every newspaper and onto every billboard worldwide as a public service.

The nuclear nightmare could then be halted at the damage already done.

    Thanks for your knowledgeable commentary.

    May I blogroll you?

  3. Much worse than Chernobyl, and that was bad enough. This disaster is absolutely terrible to think about. And listening to the media blabber all day long about the debt crisis in America, and how we need to pay the greedy bankers more money and interest in order to balance the budget, meanwhile our military is engaged in offensive operations all over the globe and the entire world is threatened with nuclear contamination. Just simply sickening.

  5. Hi Suzan!

    "May I blogroll you?"

    Of course you may!

'The nuclear nightmare could then be halted at the damage already done.'

Imagine that no more power stations and importantly no more depleted uranium and nuclear bombs

  6. Hey John Friend!

I can't add anything to what you have just said.

  7. Hey I didn't know that about rosemary! I use it often and admit to a bit of an addiction to the smell :)

Well, that rub for the lamb roast I have thawing has now been decided on - rosemary and garlic all the way.

    I better feed my plant.

Penny, your esteemed spouse is correct (how can he not be with you as his wife?). This is far worse than Chernobyl.

Do you suppose that all world 'leaders' and their elite cohorts are consuming KI and other beneficials? I would bet my bottom dollar they've been taken care of.

Sort of off topic, but Ontario has just struck down the cannabis laws. Perhaps we should be partaking (brownies anyone?) soley for cannabis' anti tumor effects?

    ;)

  8. Man, this is depressing - however, I feel that humanity is going thru this whole ordeal for some huge cosmic reason... we are re-learning some sort of lesson that has been forgotten long ago.

All these people who are in pursuit of the almighty dollar regardless of the consequences to not only their fellow man but to the planet and this reality, I think, are in for quite a shock here in the not-to-distant future. Thanks Penny for keeping my attention on your great postings!

  9. Hey Blake!

"we are re-learning some sort of lesson that has been forgotten long ago."

    to be human again?

as for the pursuers of the almighty dollar, dam the consequences..

Their justice cannot come to soon.

  10. Fukushima just had another 5.9 quake with some damage. Now there is a UFO over it? Don't laugh the Ukrainians said the same thing.
