While reading the most excellent book- Empire of the City, recommended by Chuckyman.
BTW: Chuckyman, I am half-way through it and it is a gem!
The author EC Knuth was quoting from Encyclopedia Brittanica.
Hey I have a set of those!
From almost 5o years ago.
I just had to check it out. Sure enough there is a section on the banking house of Rothschild! Who knew?
That said, this silly sentence is contained within the section:
"It is said that no authentic record of the Rothschild family exists".......
But then two books are named that may be consulted?
Which obviously means there are indeed authentic or credible records of the Rothschild's history.
It almost seems that who ever published the Britannica encyclopedia, even 50 years ago, was attempting to discourage readers from exploring the historic role of this family in banking and in warfare.
Anyway, here is a link to the pdf of the book The Rise of the House of Rothschild
Haven't read it yet, just found it today. If this interests you get the pdf and read it for yourself.
If this doesn't interest you, pass it by.
