Russia completes air defense contract with Syria

Russia was completing its air defense contracts with Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Saturday.

The contracts were signed and paid for long ago, and the systems could be used "only if" Syria faced foreign attacks, Lavrov told reporters.

Syria is facing foreign attack

Russia would not ship anything to Syria outside of these contracts, the minister said, adding it was not providing the Syrian government with any weapons against "peaceful demonstrators."

Since there are no "peaceful demonstrators", only outside forces fueling violence.......
The minister slammed what he said were outside forces who were fueling the violence in Syria by "openly providing" support to the armed groups and the opposition in Syria. He warned the country was on the brink of a "full-scale civil war".

Russia had decided at the very beginning of the Syria turmoil not to provide it with arms that could be used to "suppress domestic unrest," Lavrov said.

Speaking on the fraying peace plan proposed by U.N.-Arab League joint special envoy to Syria Kofi Annan, Lavrov said both the Syrian government and the opposition should be blamed for breaking the cease-fire provision.

Another reason for the unsuccessful implementation of Annan plan was that some "outside players" wanted military intervention. Some people had the idea of "the worse the better," and were trying to muddy things so as to draw outside intervention, Lavrov said

As Marie/Marty mentioned there was a Russian missile test that was visible in the Middle East?
Was this missile test significant to the ME situation?

  1. Prime German Paper: Syrian Rebels Committed Houla Massacre

  3. Alex Thomsons a journalist was set up by the FSA to be killed by the syrian army....but ths snot the first time these killers have done this:

An Arab League Observer tells me he too was 'set up' in same way by Syrian rebels in al Zabadani

The truth seeps out of Syria
I have been contacted by a group of Western women who live in Syria and who believe that most of what the world is being told about that country is false.
As far as I can discover, they are not stooges of what they agree to be a rather nasty government in Damascus, but exactly what they say they are: normal human beings caught up in a political tornado. For obvious reasons, I have promised to protect their identities.
I urge you to read what follows, because it is important, because our emotional interventions in other countries never do any good, and because it is vital that people resist attempts to drag us into Syria, too, by feeding us one-sided atrocity propaganda.
This sort of propaganda has a price. I hope you have noticed the continuing tally of deaths of selfless British soldiers in Afghanistan, in a cause long ago abandoned.
And I hope you have also noticed that Libya, 'rescued' by us a few months ago, is now a failed state whose main international airport was recently taken over by gangsters, and where unjustly arrested prisoners are starved and tortured in secret dungeons.
One of my informants from Syria writes of the 'activists' we hear so much about: 'These protesters are not peaceful, flower-carrying people wanting freedom. No, they are weapon-toting killers who snipe, who ambush, who fire upon the army with the sole purpose of inciting riot and mayhem.'
She blames Salafis, ultra-puritan Muslims influenced by Saudi teachings, who loathe and threaten Syria's minorities of Alawites and Christians. She says many of the 'activists' are foreigners, a view shared by all my informants. Many of the 'activists' are armed.
Armed intervention is in fact well under way, uncondemned by the UN, which readily attacks the Syrian government for defending itself. Another writes: 'I have seen reports of opposition rallies which showed pictures of pro-government rallies, and reports purporting to be from the north Syrian countryside, where it has been an incredibly wet year, which appear to have been taken in some desert. The news being accepted as truth by BBC World News is so biased these days that I no longer believe what they say about anything any more, after more than 60 years of crediting them with the truth.'
She says she has spoken to a man who took part in a march at Hama last summer. He 'was worried for his safety, but was given a red rose to carry and assured the whole thing would be calm and orderly, and seeing many other men from the mosque joining in with their small sons, he agreed. They walked for a very few minutes, the unarmed police watching them from the wayside, then a man next to him pulled out a gun and shot the nearest policeman dead.'
A riot followed, reported by foreign TV stations as a police attack on peaceful marchers.
I expect to have more to say on this in weeks to come.

my one objection here is Hitchens:
'As far as I can discover, they are not stooges of what they agree to be a rather nasty government in Damascus'

thats not what syrians think..but westerners are usually clueless and easily led by media propaganda...the article is a step forward

  5. critiquing 'progressives' support for the syrian insurgency
'But I wonder about one fact: did you notice very strangely the USA and NATO strong support for this “revolution”??? Did you and your friends Socialists and Greens notice that Israel supports the “revolution” and give the “revolutionarists” the maximum support?? Was this the first time for USA, NATO and Israel to support a “revolution”? Unless it is in fact not a revolution but a Western conspiracy!!!

  6. NATO crimes against Syria are sickening, but the western media lies in support of it disgust me even more.

The "Russian Missile Test" seen in Jordan and Israel looks to me like a genuine missile failure. It looks real because it is random and asymmetrical.

UNLIKE the Norway spiral in December 2009 which was perfect in every way and entirely IMPOSSIBLE. Having a functioning high tech aircraft (or missile) create such a perfect spiral would be a feat of engineering. A google search on the Norway spiral reveals nothing but corporate media stories that "confirm" the lie that the Norway spiral was a failed Russian missile test. Those reports ring about as true the 'Syrian Activists Say' stories.

If the London Olympics are going to be the stage for project blue beam, there has to be a few tests of the show before hand. The Norway Spiral was such a test. Last nights show seems to be leading people to remember the Norway spiral, and all searches of it lead to a wall of reports blaming a Russian missile.
Are the propagandists that good? Or am I getting too paranoid?

Press TV l Two MKO battalions fuelling unrest in Syria: Report

    June 10,2012

The terrorist Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) has reportedly assigned some 400 of its members with stirring up unrest in Syria amid the recent surge of violence and atrocities in the crisis-hit Arab state.

Director of the Habilian Association Seyyed Mohammad Javad Hasheminejad told Fars News Agency on Sunday that MKO terrorists, grouped in two battalions, have been tasked with fomenting chaos and violence in Syria.

The Habilian Association is an Iranian human rights NGO comprising of a group of families that have lost their loved ones in terrorist acts during the early years following Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Hasheminejad had on May 28 said that the MKO is preparing to launch a massive terrorist operation in Syria.

“We have conclusive proof and documents showing that the MKO has a strong and significant presence in Syria. The terrorist group has begun carrying out acts of sabotage and terrorism against the Syrian government and nation, and has found major influence among Syrian rebels,” the director of the Habilian Association said in a meeting with Syrian Ambassador to Tehran Hamed Hassan.

Hasheminejad also said Washington is playing a key part in destabilizating Syria, adding that the US and certain Western countries sponsor violence in the Middle Eastern state.

    1. Since these MKO brain washed crazy terrorists are wanted by Iran, no effort should be spared by Iran in identifying and capturing these crazies. After all this is Iran's war on terror and just as NATO/USA think they have the right to attack anywhere they so desire so should Iran.

  8. ‘Without embarrassment’: Shimon Peres voices support for Syria’s rebels
Peres urges international community to bolster efforts to stop bloodshed in Syria, says he hopes rebels ‘will win’ their struggle....

"We are in contact with the International Committee of the Red Cross and other humanitarian organisations, and we have asked that injured people be evacuated to Jordan, where we can help them. But we are not in contact with the rebels -- that could harm them."

Israel smuggling weapons to Syria through Iraqi Kurdistan, sources say
"Israeli airplanes are smuggling weapons into Syria through Iraq's Kurdistan region, Syrian sources told Iranian Press TV.

According to the sources, Israel sends weapons to autonomous Kurdistan region in Iraq's north, which are then smuggled into Syria with financial assistance from Qatar.

Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government President Massoud Barzani has facilitated the operations of illegal Israeli firms in the region."
