Syria under seige, Turkey strikes, AVAAZ is back and UK terror

Lots of news to look at today. As always! Going a bit long......

First: Sunnis besiege 2 villages

The title of the “news” article sets the tone for spin.  So, I am using just one part of that title “Sunnis besiege 2 Shiite villages”

Beseige: 1. To surround with hostile forces.

We are aware that fundamentalist Sunni’s make up the vast majority of mercs. Hailing from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar  Britain, (getting to that later) France etc. Keep those facts in mind as your read excerpts from the Montreal Gazette.

Anyone who tries to slip out of the Shiite villages of Zahraa and Nubl is risking his life. Sunni rebel snipers stand ready to gun down anyone who dares. Roads are blocked with barricades and checkpoints
The spin on the article cannot cover the fact that these villages are under seige: beseiged,  by terrorist mercs and the inhabitants are being terrorized. The next sentence doesn’t even try to cover this up, instead spinning the captive villagers as “Assad supporters”

“For more than three months, Syria's rebels have imposed a smothering siege on the villages, home to around 35,000 people, maintaining they are a den of pro-regime gunmen”
The NATO mercs can claim anything they want. Odd , how we are supposed to believe that the mercs are pro democratic and everyone hates the Assad government but we have the terrorists laying seige to just two of how many villages claiming they are all Assad supporters and killing anyone who moves? What does this tell you?
“In July, rebels “overwhelmed “most of Aleppo province, driving out government forces and taking control of the region's towns and villages.”

Overwhelmed? Does this mean they went in shooting and bombing, sniping and killing villagers. Just the ordinary citizens? Yes, yes it does!

“Al-Hajji and fighters of the rebel Free Syrian Army insist they will lift the siege on Zahraa and Nubl if the government forces and Shabiha surrender.”
Nonsense! The NATO mercs will not lift the siege. That is not their intent. Their intent is to take control of  Syrian land to enable NATO in creating the no fly zone. Along the way the NATO backed terrorist will kill the persons that do not support them in their agenda of destruction.  The merc terrorists will persist with their ethnic cleansing and sectarian violence.
AVAAZ is back in town!

Or at least in the news. Yes the scummy merc transporting, gun providing, weapons & journalist smuggling “humanitarian outfit” AVAAZ is back in the news. Of course none of the claims they are making can be verified, validated or proven true. What else could be expected? Let’s look at some of the unsubstantiated claims AVAAZ scum are making.. The National Post is careful to try to maintain credibility. As if??!!
At least 28,000 Syrians have gone missing since they were abducted by forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad during the 19-month-old revolt, activist group Avaaz said Thursday.

“One Syrian-based human rights organization reported up to 80,000 people had disappeared, added Avaaz, a campaign network that aids opposition activists (supports terrorists) in Syria alongside other causes worldwide”

The figures could not be verified independently.

“Avaaz said it would hand over the reports of the abductions to the United Nations Human Rights Council, saying they amounted to “enforced disappearances.”

They “would” but will they? And if they do, can any of it be verified independently?

Wonder where Wisam Tarrif is???? Recall when he hooked up with AVAAZ?

If you have been around for these past 18 months or so, you will recall Mr Tarrif appearing in a number of posts. I have relinked a couple to refresh your memory. Connected to the transport of guns and fighters from Libya to Syria with the help of Turkey and the SNC.

The next logical step for Turkey would be to set Lebanon on fire. it would serve the Israelis who might (?) use the situation as a proximate threat in what Sr defense officials have said is an inevitable war....

Can we say clairvoyant? Or stating the obvious? Whichever?
Anonymous I know you have already seen this news based on your comment here today
Way too predictable...

Car bomb in the Christian area of Lebanon

A huge car bomb exploded in a street in central Beirut during rush hour on Friday, killing at least eight people and wounding about 80, witnesses and officials said.

The bomb exploded in the street where the office of the anti-Damascus Christian Phalange Party is located near Sassine Square in Ashafriyeh, a mostly Christian area.

Phalange leader Sami al-Gemayel, a staunch opponent of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and member of parliament, condemned the attack.

This should be enough to get the Christians and Arabs at one an-others throats, all the while Israel plots.....

Turkey strikes Syria, today

Despite Turkey’s claims of supporting a ceasefire. Turkey felt no sense of restraint, in the name of peace, love or humanitarianism in firing upon Syria, today.
Of course Turkey claims the strikes are “retaliatory” Claims you know are nonsensical. Claims you know cannot be supported or proven.  Did Syrian shells even land in Turkey? The way this news is reported on??? It's anyone's guess, really. But it's highly dubious.
Turkey's army fired on Syria on Friday after two shells launched from Syria landed in Turkish territory, Turkish state broadcaster TRT reported, underlining how tension between the two neighbors remains dangerously high.

TRT did not specify where the incident occurred and no further details were available. There were no reports of any casualties resulting from the exchange of fire.

NHS doctor accused of being part of British jihadi group in Syria

NHS doctor Shajul Islam, 26, appeared in court yesterday charged with his role in the gang which kidnapped and injured British photographer John Cantlie and Dutch journalist Jeroen Oerlemans in July this year.

Islam, from Stratford, east London, has a first-class degree in biochemistry and qualified as a doctor at St Bartholomew's and a University of London hospital.

As many as 100 Britons may have travelled to Syria to either join jihadi groups or to fight alongside rebel forces

This article mentions 15 additional Brits

Fifteen British nationals are suspected of being part of an Islamic training camp in Syria, it emerged yesterday during a court appearance by an NHS doctor accused of kidnapping a photographer in the war-torn country.
A fully qualified NHS doctor goes off to fight in Syria? How much money was he offered to recruit others to the "cause"? Because of his position in society the good Doctor would have been in a great position in the Arab community to use his education and authoritative position as an esteemed doctor.
He must have been made an offer by British intelligence that was just too sweet ! Better pay? Student loan indebtedness all forgiven?
I am sure the offer was much better then the salary of a NHS doctor

Very pleased we had a Wisam Tarrif flashback today for the simple reason the gun runner terrorist transporter ties back to this story

How US Ambassador Chris Stevens May Have Been Linked To Jihadist Rebels In Syria

It just makes sense that he was linked to terrorists being delivered into Syria

"The official position is that the US has refused to allow heavy weapons into Syria. But there's growing evidence that U.S. agents—particularly murdered ambassador Chris Stevens—were at least aware of heavy weapons moving from Libya to jihadist Syrian rebels.

In March 2011 Stevens became the official U.S. liaison to the al-Qaeda-linked Libyan opposition, working directly with Abdelhakim Belhadj of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group.

In November 2011 The Telegraph reported that Belhadj, acting as head of the Tripoli Military Council, "met with Free Syrian Army [FSA] leaders in Istanbul and on the border with Turkey" in an effort by the new Libyan government to provide money and weapons to the growing insurgency in Syria.

The ship's captain was "a Libyan from Benghazi and the head of an organization called the Libyan National Council for Relief and Support," which was presumably established by the new government. (More likely NATO)

That means that Ambassador Stevens had only one person—Belhadj—between himself and the Benghazi man who brought heavy weapons to Syria.

  1. BBC reporting that the Lebanon target was a security minister. Wonder if it has anything to do with the Bekaa troop deployments? Lots of interested parties.

Don't forget that Hariri splits his time now between France and Saudi Arabia.

    1. thanks anonymous

When it comes to Hariri junior and his "loyalties"
He got the message when NATO and Israel colluded to kill the senior Hariri
Junior is owned and equally as expendable
      He walks the line

Bekaa Lebanon looks really gorgeous, went to look at the area map and images, but can see where it is a problematic area

      smuggling routes etc

  2. ...
"top Lebanese security official opposed to Syrian President Bashar Assad was killed Friday in a car bomb in Beirut that also claimed the lives of seven others, security sources told The Daily Star.

The sources identified Maj. General Wissam Hasan, the head of the police’s Information Branch, as one of the eight people who were killed in the mid-afternoon attack in the Beirut neighborhood of Ashrafieh.

The blast, the first car bombing in Beirut since 2008, occurred at 2.50 p.m. on Ibrahim Monzer Street as staff headed out of work and students left their schools in the popular, mainly Christian district.

Hasan, 43, headed Lebanon’s Information Brach which recently uncovered a bomb plot allegedly involving a former Lebanese minister close to Assad and a top Syrian official. He was close to former Prime Minister Saad Hariri and played a key role in the probe of the assassination of Hariri’s father, former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

    1. "He was close to former Prime Minister Saad Hariri and played a key role in the probe of the assassination of Hariri’s father, former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri."

Interesting? A man who had outlived his usefulness?
Or was more valuable to some political agenda, dead?

  3. More..
Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri, whose father was assassinated in a massive car bombing in Beirut in 2005, condemned the attack, describing it as an “act of terror.”

March 14 coalition Secretary General Fares Soueid told MTV television station that opposition members had not been wounded in the blast.

A staunch critic of President Bashar Assad, Soued said the embattled Syrian leader had repeatedly “threatened to set fire to the region if the noose tightened on him.”

However, Syrian Information Minister Omran al-Zohbi condemned the car bombing.

“These sorts of terrorist, cowardly attacks are unjustifiable wherever they occur,” Syria’s SANA state news agency quoted him as saying.

  4. Would appear the Lebanon attack must be seen in the context of the Turkish (German) calls for a ceasefire. First it was chemical weapons, which fell flat. Now it is cluster bombs? Also falling flat.

Is it not axiomatic that the victors don't call for ceasefires. Suing for peace? Reminiscent of the Libya on again off again timeouts.

    1. Libya looks to be on fire right now
Indicating to me, what was obvious anyway. Extremely small support for NATO intervention
Just their own terrorists bolstered by private security, special forces and other assorted scum

  5. Turkey - what a great country to have as an "ally".

When they arrest and jail a musician for saying a few unfriendly words against Islamist fanatics, just imagine how they treat those who take up arms and actually fight against this tyranny of Allah, as they perceive it in their very sick little minds.

Turkish musician accused of Islam insults

A prominent Turkish pianist and composer has been put on trial for insulting Islam, in a case seen by some of his supporters as a test of the resilience of the country’s secular system.

Fazil Say appeared in a cramped courtroom on Thursday charged with “insulting religious values” in Twitter posts, accusations he rejected.

The musician, who has performed with orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic and the Royal Concertgebow in the Netherlands, faces up to 18 months in jail if convicted.

Among the tweets that got him into trouble, Mr Say quoted the 12th century poet Omar Khayyam, who mused whether promises in the Koran of heavenly maidens and flowing wine made paradise into a brothel or a bar. The pianist also suggested that the world's “show-offs, thieves and buffoons” were Islamists.

His case has drawn particular attention amid continuing debate, notably among Turkey’s traditional elites, over the impact on the country of 10 years of rule by the Justice and Development party, or AKP, which has Islamist roots. Liberals also express concern about the number of journalists in prison, now thought to be about 75, and other pressures on the media.

    1. Hi LVB
      How are you doing?
Come now LVB, Turkey is a "democracy" and a good neighbour
      wink, wink
According to NATO and you know NATO is all about democracy and freedom protection
And, you know I am being completely facetious

The government of Turkey is as out of touch with it's people as any other NATO nations

  6. "Wonder where Wisam Tarrif is?"
Not surprisingly he's busy stirring things up in Lebanon according to his twitters -
"Could not make it back to #Beirut from #Bekaa last night- burning tires blocked roads. Left at 6.30am today- No blockage #Lebanon"

A Judas Goat for sheep who dream of being wolves - the face of radical Sunni Islam so lovingly nurtured by the zionist west for a century or more:
Sheik Qaradhawi: Russia Is the Number One Enemy of Arabs and Muslims
From wikipedia: "Al-Qaradawi has published more than 120 books,[3] including The Lawful and the Prohibited in Islam and Islam: The Future Civilization. He has also received eight international prizes for his contributions to Islamic scholarship,[5] and is considered one of the most influential such scholars living today".
No wonder Sheik Imran Hosein despairs at the state of Islamic scholarship.

    1. Freethinker
Why am I not surprised that Mr Tarrif is in Lebanon, at this time?

      That video!
      As presented by Memri?!
      that says it all

Of course his speech should serve to fire up the Islamists in Chechnya
The ones Turkey & Georgia support, nurture arm and train..
Just one big happy NATO terror family

  7. For those interested (Walter Wit Man?), ITAR Tass carries a fair bit of Syria news, as does quite a bit of the Russian Press. Use Google Chrome & you can get a decent translation...

    The latest:
"Damascus gave the UN a list of 108 foreign fighters detained in Syria

Damascus sent to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on the list of 108 foreign fighters who had infiltrated into Syria to take part in the hostilities on the side of the opposition. The list was attached to the letter signed by the Permanent Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the UN, Bashar Jaafari.

"Following the instructions from my Government, I have the honor to enclose a list of names and nationalities of 108 foreign citizens, who were arrested by the Syrian authorities", - stated in the letter, leaked to reporters Friday in order. As explained Jafari, the list explains the "reasons for the detention of each individual, are associated with involvement in terrorist activities on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic / CAP /". However, most mentioned in the list of persons - citizens of Arab countries.

CAP envoy sought to introduce a letter and enclosed the list to the Security Council and the General Assembly "as a document" under the agenda entitled "measures to combat international terrorism."
Damascus has repeatedly pointed out that in the opposition are fighting mercenaries, most of them - the citizens of the Middle East and North Africa. According to the Syrian authorities, mostly they get into the country through neighboring Turkey. At the beginning of October - at the height of tensions between the two countries, triggered firing Turkey from Syria - Damascus Ankara offered to cooperate in the protection of the common border of the terrorists that threaten the security of the region. However, no real steps to one side or the other followed..."

    1. Thanks KenM
I will have to add Itartass to my huge book mark list
      What a resource!!

    2. Thanks for the good suggestion Ken.

Just went and unfortunately the first story was about a new apple product roll-out . . . can't seem to escape the consumer crap anywhere.

Also, notice the lead story about the most recent shelling (from 10/23/12) appears to be using a photo I recognize from the first shelling incident a few weeks ago. They don't seem to be stating that the photo is old. And they are repeating CNN-Turk reporting.

I'll keep the source in mind though and see if I detect any further bias or if these were simply minor issues. Too bad we can't rely on the media to aggregate the important news for us and we have to do it ourselves, eh?

  8. "In northern Syria government forces squeezed the rebels

In northern Syria on Friday, government forces attacked and struck powerful blows to the rebel militias. According to news agency SANA, near the town Maarat-Naaman highway Damascus-Aleppo released several villages that were captured by militants.

"Killing tens of terrorists, weapons and military equipment, fell into their hands," - said the agency source of the Northern Military District. During the operation in Kfar Sidzhne, Bseyde and Khan Sheyhune Syrian soldiers "liquidated stocks of ammunition, knocked out 23 anti-aircraft guns, and more than 20 military vehicles mounted with machine guns."

TV station "Al-Jazeera" presents a different picture of events in the province of Idlib. According to her, two teams of so-called "Free Syrian Army" / 2500 men / continuous stormed a military base in Wadi Deyfe, which defended the garrison of 250 men. Government forces camp is located 2 km from the highway Damascus-Aleppo and allows you to control not only the part of this strategic route linking the southern and northern parts of the country, but also the conduit through which the northern capital receives petroleum products. Defenders of the base support the Syrian Air Force helicopters, which cause air strikes against rebel squads.

In Aleppo rebels launched a series of armed attacks on the eastern and southern outskirts of fierce fighting, reports TV station "Al-Manar".

Reports of armed clashes with troops rebels also received from the provinces of Homs, Deraa and Deir ez-Zor. Near Damascus army special forces pursue the formation of opponents of the regime in the mountain resort of Zabadani, 45 km from the capital, and in Hamura and Sacbe. Militias surrounded in Nabq and Yabrude, north of the city on the Damascus-Homs highway. The agency SANA, completed Maskhare special operation in the province of Quneitra / near the occupied Golan Heights / where "the terrorists have created their stronghold and attacked military patrols and civilians."

Meanwhile, the Turkish army armored units conducted exercises near the border with Syria. According to the TV channel Al-ti-vi, in maneuvers in the province of Sanliurfa participated armored units and artillery batteries stationed in Suruç 10 km from the Syrian border. Also, there were reports that the Turkish armed forces on Friday opened fire on the border areas of Syria after two artillery shells landed on Turkish territory..."

"Confirmed by the data on the supply of goods Syrian opposition with weapons by the Turkish port

In Moscow will closely monitor the investigation into the incident with the Syrian opposition arms shipments through the Turkish port. The information was Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich.

In his words, "to confirm the data on the supply of goods Syrian opposition with weapons on the Libyan ship through the Turkish port of Iskenderun." "We believe that the Committee of the UN Security Council sanctions should thoroughly examine the incident and take all necessary measures to avoid a repeat violation of the international sanctions regime in the future," - said the diplomat..."
