CIA chief John Brennan makes surprise visit to Israel

What to make of this visit ?

Unannounced meeting with PM Netanyahu and senior Israeli figures comes amid concerns over Syrian weapons

The CIA chief has made an unexpected visit to Israel to meet senior political and military figures to discuss the deteriorating security situation in neighbouring Syria.
John Brennan, who took up his post two months ago, met the Israeli prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, defence minister, Moshe Ya'alon, military chief of staff, Benny Gantz, and Mossad chief, Tamir Pardo, according to reports in Israel media.

The unannounced meetings followed two Israeli air strikes on weapons stores near Damascus a fortnight ago. Israel has repeatedly warned it will take action to prevent advanced or chemical weapons being transferred to the Syrian regime's Lebanese ally, Hezbollah, or falling into the hands of jihadist groups fighting alongside the Syrian opposition.

According to a report in the Israeli paper Yedioth Ahronoth, the visit stemmed from "the American fear of escalation in the region against the backdrop of [Hezbollah leader Hassan] Nasrallah's threats to act against Israel in the Golan Heights and the American sense that Israel is disappointed by the ineffectuality of the Obama administration with regard to the ongoing deterioration in Syria.

"It is assessed that Brennan was sent to Israel to co-ordinate a joint policy between the two countries and prevent Israel from taking action on its own in Syria."

Or coordinating joint covert action?

On Wednesday, the New York Times quoted a senior Israeli official as saying the Jewish state was considering further strikes to prevent the transfer of advanced weaponry to Islamist militants in the region. "If Syrian President Assad reacts by attacking Israel, or tries to strike Israel through his terrorist proxies, he will risk forfeiting his regime, for Israel will retaliate," the official – thought to be a high-level political figure – said.
The Syrian government has warned it will retaliate against further military action by Israel, which would risk embroiling the US ally in a regional conflict.

Two shells landed in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights this week. An unknown Palestinian group, the Abdul Qader al-Husseini brigades, said it had fired the missiles, which, if true, would make it the first time Israeli-controlled territory had been targeted. "We are avenging all our martyrs that we lost in our war with the Zionist enemy," the brigades said.
As noted here the never before heard of group who are allegedly firing rockets/shells/missiles. Curiously and coincidentally armed with the right technological capabilities to video said attack and upload it to the internet. At such a time that the benefit of alleged attacks by previously unheard of group play right into an agenda that benefits Israel. When Israel is looking for any excuse/justification  to attack Syria for a third time: Israel Hints at New Strikes, Warning Syria Not to Hit Back
Three observers with Undof, the UN peacekeeping force in the Golan, were abducted by Syrian opposition forces and later released on Wednesday, the third such incident in the past two months.
Peacekeeping forces abducted and replaced by IDF, again, benefiting Israel.

    1. haaretz? sorry but that suggets propaganda

what USisrael wants is a strike by syria

  3. "Or coordinating joint covert action?"

Since their overt war appears to be fizzling, they will probably increase covert terror ops now. Some of the Israeli media are now claiming Israel can live with Assad.(1) This could be a return to the previous cover the Israelis used of pretending to be for Assad, while actively working on every angle to bring his government down. Unless Israel and NATO do a Libya on Syria, it's looking like their only options will be covert terror and economic warfare. Their mercs are completely routed.

    (1) Interestingly, the Israel propaganda initially claimed Assad and Israel were aligned. The Jewish/zionist "left" claimed an Assad-Israeli alliance as a deception to get people opposed to zionism on board this zionist war against Syria. Israel's recent actions and threats killed that pr line. If the Israel's lighten up on the overt stuff, their zionist network can go back to ignoring the elephant in the room, as they were earlier, before the Israeli attacks forced them to acknowledge Israeli involvement to avoid looking obvious.

  7. The Israeli vehicle might have been leftover from one of many incursions that Israel did in Lebanon, I doubt if theisraeli agents helping the terrorists would insist on using their own.

Seems like we missed a big event. Just before erdogan went to the USA (seemingly summoned) to talk to Obama after the terrorist car bombs in turkey a few days ago, apparently he decided to take a bold and foolish step and move his army inside syria. Locals reported major military deployment on the border and the syrian military went on high alert. Thousands of missiles were reported repointed towards major Turkish cities. Assad apparently sent Putin a message assuring him syria did not have any hand in the bombing and is willing to have a joint American Russian investigation, but if turkey moves inside syria he will have no choice but to respond. Iran also sent a clear message it would move , although things are vague in this area. Putin talked to Obama and I guess suggested he yanks the erdogan chain before things got out of hand. Things almost got out of hand. Phew. Erdogan really needs to go.

    1. Hey Anonymous and all!!!

      RE: a missed big event
Erdogan was willing to try pushing an invasion of Syria?
      That just stuns me
      Erdogan is that irrational
Or is he that hungry for power?
I know the rhetoric he uses is over the top and he seems to be dreaming of some watered down version of the Ottoman empire
I would think Russia can shut the gas down quickly and point some missiles in that direction need be

thanks for letting me know about that

    2. This makes some sense in the context of the massive Turkish push to settle the PKK issue. The Iraq sectarianism is escalating by the day. Further, reports out of Iran today suggest that Rafsanjani might get banned from running. If the theos move to ban candidates viewed as US friendly, it would add urgency to the Israeli designs on Iran. Finally, there was a self immolation in Saudi Arabia which appears to be in the process of being primed for its own spring - which partially explains the IEA bimonthly rhetoric on the US shale boom. US now has KSA surrounded on all sides.

It might be that the Turks are planning a Kurd big boom rather than targeting Assad directly. What better time to make a transformative try on Iraq than the leadup to a critical power transition in Iran (looking east as far as South Pars and the Syria pipelines and west to Pakistan/India pipelines).

    3. Erdogan is a puppet on a string with a bad case of wood decay. He'll be gone soon, I think. perhaps that's why he's been so stressed lately. The Israelis pass their orders to him through the Americans. But there are other elements in the Turkish establishment besides Erdogan and the military NATO loyalists. Russia is Turkey's largest trading partner, and with Turkey being capitalist, that has a lot of potential weight, depending on who in Turkey handles that trade.

"The Israeli vehicle might have been leftover from one of many incursions that Israel did in Lebanon, I doubt if theisraeli agents helping the terrorists would insist on using their own."

The Syrians have already captured all sorts of advanced Israeli spy and communications devices from the terrorists, along with weapons and "motivational" "designer" drugs. The vehicle in question apparently was full of electronics, some sort of mobile command posts, from what read. It's not the vehcle, but the black boxes it was outfitted with that is the important thing here.

Yes, the Israelis are central to the command and control structure of these terrorists, and they cant avoid leaving material behind when they evacuate their "advisers" when things go pear shaped, as they are going now in a very big way. The terrorists are in rout mode, and have been for a few weeks. The Syrians have probably captured all sorts of "goodies" left behind during the Israeli panics.

Take a look at what happened to during the 5 Day war in Georgia. The Russians hit the motherlode at that Israeli cockup.

    5. Media Source: Seizure of Israeli Vehicle in al-Qseir Proves Scale of Israeli Involvement in Syria

"A media source said that the seizure of an Israeli military vehicle which terrorists had been using in al-Qseir refutes the allegations made by Israel to justify its aggression on Syria and proves the scale of Israel's military and intelligence involvements in the events in Syria.

The source said that the Israeli military support for the armed terrorist groups proves the involvement of Qatar, Turkey and Israel in the aggression on Syria which is waged through a single central operations room.

The source pointed out that the Israeli military support for terrorism in Syria proves once more that Israel was and still is adopting the policy of organized state terrorism, stressing that the world must act to confront this terrorism.

The source said that the questions raised by the seizure of the Israeli military vehicle and the surveillance and jamming equipment in al-Qseir show that the armed terrorist groups with all their different names are merely headlines for a single structure led by Israel, Qatar and Turkey.

  9. Israel at it again:

General Command : Army Units Destroyed Israeli Vehicle Crossed Cease-Fire Line

"DAMASCUS, SANA_ General Command of the Army and the Armed Forces said that our armed forces destroyed an Israeli vehicle entered from the occupied territories and crossed the cease-fire line towards the village of Bir Ajam.

" The village is located in the liberated area of Syrian territories where there are armed terrorist groups, " the General Command said in a statement issued Tuesday.

" Following that, the Israeli enemy fired two rockets from the occupied site of Tal al-Faras toward one of our sites in al-Zubaydiah village; no casualties reported, " the statement said.

It added that the aggression aims at raising the terrorist groups' collapsed moral due to the painful blows they received at the hands of our armed forces in more than one place, especially in al-Qsier area.

The General Command of the Army and the Armed Forces said that the blatant aggression confirms again the involvement of the Zionist entity in the ongoing events in Syria and the direct coordination with the armed terrorist gangs.

The statement stressed that any breach or an attempt to violate the state sovereignty will be responded.

It stressed that whoever thinks that he is able to test our strength, alert and readiness to maintain our dignity and sovereignty is mistaken."
