Breaking bad in southern NATOstan- Pepe Escobar

I am just going to excerpt from Pepe after the background info

If you have not read these posts you may want to:
1-Trigger a cold war to make it easier (for the US) to annex Europe
2- Ukraine: Regime Change & the IMF's Bitter Pill
3-The New Great Game: Why the Ukraine matters to so many other nations
4-   Ukraine: Cargill acquires stake in UkrLand Farming/food control = people control

Apparently China is not looking for the US to capitalize anymore then it has on it's domestic populace. Rather China is opting to build it's society up, on it's own. And is looking to Russia for assistance.Which is a much better option for two stronger nations.

Not impressed is an understatement. One week off the grid, and the same sarabande of paranoia, frenetic pivoting and monochromatic exceptionalism. Yet, there it was, like a pearl at the bottom of the turquoise Mediterranean, buried in the info-avalanche: the definitive news of the week, perhaps the year, perhaps the decade.

Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller had met with China National Petroleum Corporation chairman Zhou Jiping in Beijing on Wednesday. They were on their way to sign the 30-year, mega-contract deal to supply China with Siberian natural gas "as soon as possible". Probably on May 20, when Putin goes to Beijing.

Now this is the genuine article. Pipelineistan meets the strategic partnership Russia-China, as solidified in the BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, with the tantalizing prospect of pricing/payment bypassing the petrodollar, otherwise known as the "thermonuclear option". Ukraine, compared to this, is a mere sideshow.
 Welcome to the Brussels rat-o-drome
It was on the road from the Mediterranean back to Arles via Aix-en-Provence that it hit me like an Obama drone. This whole trip was after all about the sublime chevre wrapped up in chestnut leaves in Banon, those "rose petal" bottles of wine; in Bandol, artisan producers and season mountain folks spelling out their fears in village markets and unpretentious chateaux. This was all about economic NATO.
I am very jealous of the wine and cheese- Yummy
The Trans-Atlantic Free Trade Agreement is a top priority of the Obama administration. Tariffs are already almost negligible across most products between the US and the European Union. So a deal is essentially about a power grab over continental markets by Big American Agro-Business (as in an invasion of genetically modified products), as well as American media giants. Call it a nice add-on to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) - which in a nutshell means an American takeover of the heavily protected Japanese economy.
This goes right back to that post on annexing the EU. The Cargill post- Using Ukraine as a means to get American GMO foods shoved down the throats of the rest of the world. And the TPP an agreement that is being made so secretly. Here in Canada we hear next to nothing about it. But, Canadians will lose in this one. Because Canadians have lost in every free trade agreement since Reagan and Mulroney sang Irish eyes are smiling- Sickening!
Southern NATOstan does offer glimpses of a European post-historical paradise - a Kantian rose garden protected from a nasty Hobbesian world by the "benign" Empire (the new denomination of choice, coined by - who else - neo-cons of the Robert Kagan variety). Yet the main emotion enveloping southern NATOstan, as I witnessed since the start of 2014 successively in Italy, Spain and France, is fear. Fear of The Other - as in the poor interloper, black or brown; fear of perennial unemployment; fear for the end of middle-class privileges until recently taken for granted; and fear of economic NATO - as virtually no average European trusts those hordes of Brussels bureaucrats.

For nine months now, the European Commission has been negotiating a so-called Trade and Investment Partnership. The "transparency" surrounding what will be the largest free-trade agreement ever, encompassing more than 800 million consumers, would put North Korea's King Jong-eun to shame.

The whole secret blah blah blah revolves around the euphemistic "non-tariff obstacles" - as in a web of ethical, environmental, juridical and sanitary norms that protect consumers, not giant multinationals. What the behemoths aim for, on the other hand, is a very profitable free-for-all - implying, just as an example, the indiscriminate use of ractopamine, an energy-booster for pork that is even outlawed in Russia and China.
 Ractopamine! Disgusting.

Ever heard of that garbage? I have.  In fact there is a previous post here which mentioned Ractopamine; along with the Boston bombing and NATO- Interesting how all these topics intersect yet again.
Boston Bombing: NATO- Taking the fight to Russia via Georgia/Chechnya ??
The Russian ban centers around the toxic swill, Ractopamine, allowed by the US & Canada.  Both freedom loving nations..... free to poison the dumbed down populace with toxic foodstuffs and gmo,  that is!
Would You Like Extra Ractopamine With Your Pork, Sir?
Ractopamine is a growth promoter drug. It is widely used on intensive livestock farms in the U.S. because it increases the rate of weight gain and carcass leanness in pigs, cattle and turkey. It's estimated that up to 80 percent of the U.S. pig herd is fed the drug every year. Of course, the drug doesn't come without its costs.

Ractopamine digression over- Yummy
"So why is the Obama administration suddenly so enamored of a free-trade agreement with Europe? Because US Big Business has finally found out that the Holy Grail of an economic pivoting to China won't be so holy after all; the whole thing will be conducted under Chinese terms, as in major Chinese brands progressively upgrading to control most of the Chinese market.

Thus Plan B as a transatlantic market submitting 40% of international trade to the same big business-friendly norms. Obama has been heavily spinning the agreement will create "millions of well-paid American jobs". ( Obama is full of 'it') That's highly debatable, to say the least. But make no mistake about the American drive; Obama himself is personally implicated.

As for the Europeans, it's more like rats scurrying in a secret casino. As much as the National Security Agency monitors every phone call in Brussels, average Europeans remain clueless about what they will be slapped with. Public debate over the agreement is for all practical purposes verboten for European civil society.
Same in Canada and the US

European Commission negotiators meet only with lobbyists and multinational CEOs. In case of "price volatility" down the road, European farmers will be the big losers, not Americans, now protected by a new Farm Bill. No wonder the direct and indirect message I received from virtually everyone in the Provencal countryside is that "Brussels is selling us out"; in the end, what will disappear, in a death by a thousand cuts manner, is top-quality agriculture, scores of artisan producers with a savoir-faire accumulated over centuries.
The crushing of small independent accountable business for big toxic US agribusiness and GMO's
A nightmare for humanity
So long live hormones, antibiotics, chlorine and GMOs. And off with their heads in the terroir! NATO issuing threats to Russia is such a lame, convenient diversionary tactic. As La Piccolina left Provence carrying its share of sublime artisan goods, I could not but understand why the locals see an economic NATO future with such Van Goghian apprehension.

American multinationals as global plundering marauders, backed up by the military might afforded by the petro dollar

Don't Miss!!!

Post 2-Was the US behind the ousting of Prince Bandar (Bush) bin Sultan

  1. Pepe always a great read. I've been saying for yrs that all China has to do is turn inward to attain the true statues of a powerful nation. They have the customers for the product they make and this year they had more college grads. than Amerika. They are quickly become the scientist of the world. In my country Amerika we don't believe in scientist doing good work just wasting money and time. In fact the a huge science in China soon or right now and normally Amerika sends 4 of the brightest but do to budget cuts only one will attend. The only science we do is for death and destruction and almost nothing for Main Street. China, think Amerika in the 50s and 60s when we did big things for all, well almost Ike had sell all programs as helping the dod. He did warn us.

  2. You know Penny, Lendman and Craig Roberts consistently beat the drum about the US running europe wanting to annex it etc etc. Exactly how does the US do this when the IMF out of Brussels is the US treasury? American social security numbers are issued by the IMF, all alphabet agencies draw their paychecks from the IMF not the mythical American Treasury because there is no US treasury. It is all in Black's Law Book.

International relations go by the law, not what people think. The City of London corporation is running the American corporation which has been bankrupt since since J.P. Morgan sank the titanic. America is still a british colony and the queen bows to the pope and the vatican which is still in charge. It is all a bunch of smoke and mirrors. Like I say Paul Craig Roberts prints some facts but always throws in how the US runs Europe and it is smoke and mirrors and probably his assignment having been a Reagan boy to begin with. That is why you will never see me mirroring Roberts or Lendman.

    1. Wasn't going to reply to this, but I see you spout an obscene amount of dis-info simply by reading the titles of your NUMEROUS blogs in the margins of blogs I do visit.

How the IMF Props Up the Bankrupt Dollar System by F. William Engdahl, US/Germany

      it's the jews stupid !

Penny, this is your blog, so your call on publishing this or not, but I could not at least get it out of my system. Just figuring out whats really going on is hard enough, we don't need people mud-ing up the water with stuff like that. imho

    2. Hi karin
I published it because you made a valid claim.

    3. I was busy yesterday so I could not address dublin micks comment
-Lendman and Roberts are not quoted anywhere in that post- so I fail to understand why you mentioned them
Unless you are doing a guilt by association smear?
Which is a pretty cruddy thing to do

The US destroying the EU via the corrupt leadership is obvious
sanctions against Iran- france complies though it destroys their own economy

The TPP- The Obama administration is pushing hard on this and it looks as if the EU will sign- why?
It's not in the best interest of the Europeans-

The overthrow of Yanukovych? The Europeans made a deal and the US said F'U and brought on a coup
Those are the facts on the ground. And there are more, but, it looks as if the the US is most definitely taking down the EU for the benefit of largely their homegrown multinationals
Look at how fast carghill got in the Ukraine
and Westinghouse just got a sweet nuclear deal they would likely not have gotten had the Ukrainian stuck with the EU deal
The IMF out of Brussels is the US treasury?
      And all the other claims?
look who has the biggest share and the most votes

  3. Take note Obama just unveiled a bust in the capital of the father of gmo. Symbolism rich.
Obama task in Japan at end of month is 2 fold: ram home the top in wake of Japan doing a bilateral Australia deal and make sure the boj keeps dancing to the fed money flute as in ctrl print. Oh and insure that any Japan China and Korea talks are scuttled.

As noted somewhere here before re ebola outbreak in west africa, see links on iron ore deal and even former defense Secretary Cohen calling out rogue players developing ebola like virus circa 1997! It is interesting that China and Japan see ongoing afflict with bird flu and dead pig kills. India has the super bugs and just reported one found in brazil. South Africa would make it a brics sweep. Remember that luger facility in georgia. Are we seeing as symmetric was. French just lost Sars virus? Saudi also seeing the merc now uae.

    1. President Obama Endorses Biotechnology in Agriculture
A personal letter from President Barack Obama to Julie Borlaug, granddaughter of Dr. Norman Borlaug, in which he clearly states his support for the use of biotechnology in agriculture, was made public this week

    2. anon,

I googled that as I've beeen anti biotech of agri for decades just to see what came up for the hell of it.

See Here the top hits it got. Not ONE media outlet ran that info. Not one.

It's all bio-tech. orgs crap and monsanto hawaii and wheatworld food and policy <--don't like that idea either.

You would think that at least the anti-GMO ( engineered was changed to modified back in late 80's or early 90's as it was too telling to truth )
      Food Democracy
Vegetarians for crying out loud ?
but not one hit there either. :(

Thanx for the info, as always, more to ponder.

    3. Th e ceremony comes as Japan continues to reject us ag re the tpp. It also arrives as China has rejected more corn shipments. Note those two Chinese scientists arrested a few months ago allegedly trying to steal see tech. The brics are clearly aligning against gmo.

  4. getting used to seeing krimea on russian weather reports

  5. this will annoy the antediluvian media
    Russian Market ‏@russian_market 20m
Today Russian Parliament introduced a law for bloggers: from now on all bloggers with more than 3 thousand visitors are equal to newspapers.

  6. awesome!

  7. It takes, I suppose, a certain mindset to truly appreciate Pepe's style. Some may take him as flippant, but I don't especially after reading Red Zone and realizing the horrors he writes about when he goes back to Iraq.

This line particularly hit me in that piece of his
"And then it hit me like an Obama drone".. this is classic Pepe, humor to draw you in w/ reality slapping you in the face.

    He's underappreciated I feel.

Oh, and I replied to the poster about Obama and the letter too and forgot to leave me damn name again :)
humor me, I'm an old fart.

  8. Russia is back! and with it, the birthpangs of a new international system?
Some of you have asked about China's role in all this, in what the real interests of the USA are, how the EU is positioning itself and what Russia does or does not want. And, somehow, bogged down by the minutiae of the unfolding events I managed to never mention something which Putin, Lavrov and many other top Russian politicians have repeatedly said:

What is happening today before our eyes is the end of one international system and the birth of a qualitatively different one.

Interestingly, Putin has declared that for him the point of no return was reached when the USA and its allies at the UNSC and NATO clearly and grossly twisted the intention of the UNSC on Libya and "upgraded" what should have been a "no fly" zone to a free-fire zone to attack and bomb Libya [of course, it was pretty darn clear to Putin that the "all necessary means to protect civilians" of the resolution was an open ended invitation for the AngloZionists to "interpret" it in any way they wanted; now his says that Russia was "lied to" in order to not blame Medvedev for walking into a 10 foot wide hole. But that is irrelevant here]. Putin says that from then on he had acquired the conviction that the West could not be negotiated with and had to be simply stopped. Then Syria happened: for the first time since the end of WWII the USA had decided to do something and was stopped by an outside power in the most humiliating way possible.

The Russian stance on Syria was an overt challenge to US world hegemony. It was clearly understood as such in Washington and now, following the crisis in the Ukraine, the Russians have openly admitted this.

  9. Hi Penny

With this article if implemented will ring the toll bell announcing the end of the UN.

WASHINGTON, April 18 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Barack Obama on Friday signed into law an act that bars entry of certain representatives to the United Nations.

The act, passed by the U.S. Congress last week, is aimed at blocking Hamid Aboutalebi, Iran's newly appointed ambassador to the UN, from entering the United States.

The law bans any UN envoy from entering the United States if the individual has been engaged in espionage or terrorist activity against the United States and may pose a threat to its national security interests.

Lawmakers sponsoring the act said Aboutalebi should be banned from entry to the United States because he was a member of a militant group that held 52 Americans hostage when it seized the U. S. embassy in Tehran in 1979.
    end snip.

Ummmm what about that guy Yats from Ukraine didn't he visit Obumma ...oh yeas that was before the act was signed. Silly me..
No hypocrisy there is there ???

Wow just reread my last post,,,, all in one breath, sorry for that :-)

Watch the movie Threads its well worth the 2 hours not 22 as typoed in the last post.

It is enough to swear everyone off Nuclear no matter what.

    Cheers Penny
    Happy Easter

  10. a trojan horse? whatever is Snowden up to? lets call out Edward Snowden
what the hell? another and odd attempt to demonise President Putin from a guy who sought asylum in russia...Snowden is not russian, nor does he work for russia intelligence
id ike to know why he felt the need to ask the question at all? for he can also ask it of france UK germany italy spain canada australia etc etc
Snowden is not russian...nor is he french german austraian italian or lithuanian...
Thos who see Snowden as a deepstate plant in russia now have a bit more evidence

  11. first south koreas Victor Ahn, then americas Victor Wild now a ukrainian athlete chooses to represent Russia #goodsign...note how they are all fleeing the US and its allies for the land of the really free!

  12. On the UN comment Our POTUS has broken many laws. I personally have been complaining on twitter for a year (or close to it?) about his heading the UNSC while being President. It is against the Charter (law) but it continues.

This is why this action is very paramount imo !
Just saw this article title at PressTV Coming US-Iran legal battle at UN

They also, I fear, are headed down the road to take away Russia's vote at UN. :(
The time is perfect for this US-Iran legal battle.

  13. Regarding the UN

Readers here know, I am not a fan
It has long been run by the US. And this move by Obama makes that abundantly clear to anyone who has thought otherwise
I will be back with a bit more after I have had time to look through all the links
    Thanks or leaving them everyone!

  14. This is big Penny.. Voltaire has this up today Caught Red Handed Ukraine: Poland trained putchists two months in advance

And once you read it there are hoards of other implications. It may have stopped showering (rain) or slowed down enuf to get back outdoors and work, so I will run down the info w/in it when time allows.
Gotta make hay while the hubby is home to help with the big jobs :)

    1. karin I did get over to read that and it reminds me of ... don't know if you recall this
when the entire polish government went down in that airplane

I did a couple of large posts on that very nearly unheard of government take down ! I absolutely believe someone brought that plane down! And immediately blamed Russia, but, that is to obvious

If you were not a reader here 4 long years ago and are unfamiliar with this
      please read

      Look at who died

"The who's who of the deceased.

Lech Kaczynski, 60. Poland's president, a nationalist conservative who had been in office since 2005. A founder of the Law and Justice party, now in opposition, and the twin brother of its leader, former Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski.
_ Maria Kaczynska, 66, Poland's first lady; an economist and translator of English and French, had carried out charity work in her role as first lady. Her uncle was killed at Katyn.
_ Gen. Franciszek Gagor, 58. Army chief of staff since Feb. 2006. From 2004 to 2006, was Poland's representative at NATO in Brussels.
_ Gen. Andrzej Blasik, 47, head of the Air Force since 2007. Received professional military education in Montgomery, Alabama, in 2005.
_ Vice Admiral Andrzej Karweta, 51, Navy chief commander since November 2009. From 2002-2005 served at the Supreme Allied Command Atlantic, SACLANT in Norfolk, Virginia.
_ Gen. Tadeusz Buk, 49, land forces commander since Sept. 2009. Served in 2007 as commander of Polish troops in Iraq.
_ Slawomir Skrzypek, 46, president of the National Bank of Poland since 2007. A longtime colleague of Lech Kaczynski, served under him at Warsaw City Hall from 2002-5.
_ Aleksander Szczyglo, 46, head of the National Security Office, a former defense minister under Kaczynski's brother.
From this list, we can see the President is gone, the President of the National Bank is gone
the head of the Army, Navy, Airforce, National Security etc., all gone.

Deadheaded. All the top people gone."

and sure enough I believe at that time Radosław Sikorski & Donald Tusk looked to be the big winners of that mass murder

    2. after I wrote that part I put up a part 2 it seems to me that information is very relevant at this time- it makes you wonder just how long NATO was planning these geostrategic moves

      Here is part 2

and I ended the post with this............

By all accounts the Russian government is going out of their way to cooperate, to investigate along with representatives from the Polish government.

I spent some time surfing around on the net. Alot of fingers are pointing at Russia and the Russian government surely must be aware of how this entire situation appears to the public and possibly to other heads of state.

At this point in time, I will say, nothing may be as it seems. Given Russia's warming of relations as of late, the newest natural gas deal with Poland. I would hesitate, if this was some kind of coup attempt, to point my fingers at Russia.

Russia and Poland were having a warming of relations... and suddenly the entire Polish government goes down???
I ask, who benefits from that?
Well it surely looks like now as if NATO/US were the big winners
which makes me suspect even more so that the US is attempting to bait Russia into war
