Propaganda Alert: Dozens of Russian Generals Killed by Car Bomb Latakia

I have issues with this news story... Serious doubts about it's veracity. ( Personally speaking, I don't believe this happened at all)
Why would Ahrar al Sham wait for days to make this claim?
It's obvious why Jerusalem Post would publish this news. (Reinforces propaganda that Israeli media is always pushing)
Could this news story be provided as an ego boost for Israeli backed terrorists?
An incentive for them to continue the fight?
All non credible news stories provide us opportunity to discuss the objectives of such propaganda? What do you think?

Jerusalem Post:
According to the media office of Ahrar al-Sham, the two factions, in coordination with local jihadists who were located at the Russian military base, decided to bomb the car after they observed a gathering of senior Russian generals at the military base.
Ahrar al-Sham claims that dozens of Russian generals were killed and injured in the explosion. According to the movement, the announcement of the terror attack was delayed until Wednesday to ensure that the jihadists who committed the attack returned safely to opposition territories.

The military base that was hit by the car bomb is considered one of the most important military centers of the Russian forces on the Syrian coast, located some 15 kilometers from Latakia.

The belated announcement of the car bombing came shortly before the Syrian truce was scheduled to start on Saturday. Russia and the US have already announced that the ceasefire will not apply to ISIS and al-Nusra Front, but in light of this terror attack, Russia might demand the exclusion of Ahrar al-Sham as well.

  1. haaretz touting a Israeli strike south of damascus a few days ago. US and israeli exercises. HZ out this am talking up the Gaza port idea again after the 'secret deal' leaks last year (Blair). Most interesting as the Italian kill looks like operation

    1. Are the GCC clearing out of Lebanon for a Israeli strike and southern diversion to aide rebels in wake of US and Israeli exercises. Was the reported Israeli strike a probe? or at least appearance of one. AWACs now in position.

Lavrov:"Literally on the day when Russia and the United States approved the joint initiative on the ceasefire in Syria, voices could be heard from the capitals of the US allies and from Washington which questioned the viability of this agreement,"

  4. "Dozens of Russian generals" have no business in a (relatively) small military base abroad, and in Syria in general. This wording sounds as a genuine Arab bullshit boasting. In other words, this has never happened.

    1. Hi Neophyte:
I would agree that it would be extremely odd to find 'dozens of Russian generals' on a small military base in Syria

    2. Thanks joe!

I see Moscow times picked up the Jerusalem Post story the day after I posted the JP story here at the blog
It's just repetition wilh less detail.
The day I posted the JP story here, there was not one other news outlet carrying this tale.
Repetition doesn't make the story true. It often just bolsters the big lie.

So, I'm maintaining this is a false news story
based on the questions asked and the fact there is no way so many Russian Generals would be in in place, at one time, in Syria- It doesn't pass my smell test

  8. What's your theory? The JP is making it up ? Or is Russia making it up so they can justify what their doing in Syria and to Turkey?

    1. The news originated with JP, so...... it's most likely their fabrication.
      I named some possible motivations
"Why would Ahrar al Sham wait for days to make this claim?
It's obvious why Jerusalem Post would publish this news. (Reinforces propaganda that Israeli media is always pushing)
Could this news story be provided as an ego boost for Israeli backed terrorists?
An incentive for them to continue the fight?"

Russia making this news up would be the last thought that would cross my mind- That's not plausible in my opinion- look to Israel and their agenda in Syria

  9. Yes it is odd, CNN or no big News people are doing anything on this article?

    1. That's because it's really non credible,so, they aren't going to get caught up with it. At least that's what I think.
