Trump’s Speech on US Recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital

Being one who did not believe Trump was anything but the status quo...
From the earlier post:  Trump to Recognize Jerusalem as Capital of Israel?
Linking back, again:  January 18/2017: Trump's Presidency: A Dangerous Deception
Personally speaking here. I've never been a believer in "the Donald" as the leader of any sort of grassroots/populist movement. Nor do I buy the common presentation of the media being opposed to him. I'm also not a fan of the whole 'deep state' is against Mr Trump. I see the psychology of influence at play.
About the latest inflammatory move by Trump

Donald Trump's, US Recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's Capital, Speech- Global News

Defying dire, worldwide warnings, President Donald Trump on Wednesday broke with decades of U.S. and international policy by recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
The following is the text of an address made by President Donald Trump announcing the recognition by the United States of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Thank you. When I came into office, I promised to look at the world’s challenges with open eyes and very fresh thinking. We cannot solve our problems by making the same failed assumptions and repeating the same failed strategies of the past. Old challenges demand new approaches.

My announcement today marks the beginning of a new approach to conflict between Israel and the Palestinians.
In 1995, Congress adopted the Jerusalem Embassy Act, urging the federal government to relocate the American embassy to Jerusalem and to recognize that that city — and so importantly — is Israel’s capital. This act passed Congress by an overwhelming bipartisan majority and was reaffirmed by a unanimous vote of the Senate only six months ago.
Israel Firster- Donald Trump

Yet, for over 20 years, every previous American president has exercised the law’s waiver, refusing to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem or to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital city.
Presidents issued these waivers under the belief that delaying the recognition of Jerusalem would advance the cause of peace. Some say they lacked courage, but they made their best judgments based on facts as they understood them at the time. Nevertheless, the record is in. After more than two decades of waivers, we are no closer to a lasting peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians. It would be folly to assume that repeating the exact same formula would now produce a different or better result.
Therefore, I have determined that it is time to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
While previous presidents have made this a major campaign promise, they failed to deliver. Today, I am delivering.
I’ve judged this course of action to be in the best interests of the United States of America and the pursuit of peace between Israel and the Palestinians. This is a long-overdue step to advance the peace process and to work towards a lasting agreement.
Israel is a sovereign nation with the right like every other sovereign nation to determine its own capital. Acknowledging this as a fact is a necessary condition for achieving peace.
Israel has no defined borders- How would one consider it a sovereign nation?
It was 70 years ago that the United States, under President Truman, recognized the State of Israel. Ever since then, Israel has made its capital in the city of Jerusalem — the capital the Jewish people established in ancient times. Today, Jerusalem is the seat of the modern Israeli government. It is the home of the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, as well as the Israeli Supreme Court. It is the location of the official residence of the Prime Minister and the President. It is the headquarters of many government ministries.
For decades, visiting American presidents, secretaries of state, and military leaders have met their Israeli counterparts in Jerusalem, as I did on my trip to Israel earlier this year.
Jerusalem is not just the heart of three great religions, but it is now also the heart of one of the most successful democracies in the world. Over the past seven decades, the Israeli people have built a country where Jews, Muslims, and Christians, and people of all faiths are free to live and worship according to their conscience and according to their beliefs.
Israel as a democracy? Perhaps Trump had better clarify what a democracy is?
Jerusalem is today, and must remain, a place where Jews pray at the Western Wall, where Christians walk the Stations of the Cross, and where Muslims worship at Al-Aqsa Mosque.
However, through all of these years, presidents representing the United States have declined to officially recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. In fact, we have declined to acknowledge any Israeli capital at all.
But today, we finally acknowledge the obvious: that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital. This is nothing more, or less, than a recognition of reality. It is also the right thing to do. It’s something that has to be done.
That is why, consistent with the Jerusalem Embassy Act, I am also directing the State Department to begin preparation to move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. This will immediately begin the process of hiring architects, engineers, and planners, so that a new embassy, when completed, will be a magnificent tribute to peace.
I've got this real sinking feeling..........

  2. That should get the MSM purring like a kitten.

  3. Hey Davy and Greg
    Trump is truly despicable.
Oh yes the blood lust will be obvious soon enough

  4. Do not despair. We have been duly forewarned of what would happen:

"15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: (Matthew 24:15-16).

"NOW we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 13 But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: 14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. 16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, 17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work" (2 Thess 2:1-17).

    1. It’s time you stop using the Bible to justify land stealing, Christ hating , Israel apartheid. The quote from Daniel is a Prophesy that was Fullfilled in 70 AD. Jesus, in Matthew, also prophesied that Armageddon. As a Christian, I am calling out my fellow Christians who idolize Israel and abandon what we are really called to do. “ Blessed are the Peacemakers “. I stand with the persecuted Palestinians, many of whom are Christians. You have been duped by globalist to support a regime where Jerusalem may be the seat of the One World Government. I. Pray that your eyes be opened.

  6. I suppose what is next is to destroy the Dome of the Rock?

    1. No, there might be an even worse scenario. In view of the growing cosyness between Israel and the 'Custodians of the two holy mosques' (i.e. Saudis) the Dome would be re-dedicated as the Third Temple of the 'Abrahamic religion', which will be rebuilt with the coming of the Jewish Messiah, who is also the Muslim Mahdi. Muslims will remember that initially, Muhammad instructed his followers to face the Mount during prayer. Muslim interpretations of the Quran agree that the Mount is the site of a Temple built by Sulayman, considered a prophet in Islam, that was later destroyed.
After the construction, Muslims believe, the temple was used for the worship of one God by many prophets of Islam, including Jesus.
There is no coincidence that the move was made to coincide with Hanukkah!
Sounds farfetched, I admit, but the complete irrationality of the decision would suggest that this was the belief of the Tramp after his sabre dance in Arabia.

    2. Fully agree with your speculations, WizOz. I completely forgot about Hanukkah coming up. And yes, the creepy meeting around the glowing orb.

    3. @WizOz,

About that mahdi. Aliya İzzetbegoviç once said.
Mehdi is the name of our laziness.

I cannot find in the English sites disputing Mahdi, But in Turkish sites there are disputes because there is a suspicion that mahdi believe came into islam bi siitis and christianity and judaism. Because Technically Islam does not need mahdi.

    4. Nobody needs the Mahdi. Indeed, he is the manifestation of a mental derangement which came from Judaism. Take him out and the world would be a better place. Saner, in any case. No offense, but Islam itself is a mental derangement, with or without the Mahdi. Take it out and certainly the world would be a better place.

    5. No offense taken, I stopped caring about other people opinions on what I practice, because you can never overcome the data gap.

    6. @Gwen,

If you want to know more just look what comes from the horse's mouth, no less (mark the date of the article, 4 Nov):

"It has been 50 years since the Six-Day War, 100 years since the Balfour Declaration and 150 years since Mark Twain first visited Palestine.
These are just a few of the big Israel-related anniversaries of 2017. To the Jewish state’s most die-hard Christian supporters, the barrage of milestones is not mere coincidence but rather prophecy being fulfilled.
Every half century, many Christian Zionists believe, history makes a concerted push toward its endpoint: the return of the Messiah to Jerusalem. According to this pattern, something momentous should happen to Israel before the end of the year.
“Reading Israel’s modern history, there seems to be something unusual in 50-year cycles,” said David Parsons, the vice president of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem. “It means we should expect something incredible to happen this year to further propel Jerusalem and Israel into its prophetic destiny.”
Christian Zionists, most of whom are part of the world’s 700 million-strong Evangelical community, view themselves as the Jews’ partners in God’s plan. Like many Orthodox Jews, they believe that after a world war, the Messiah will take the throne of a Jewish kingdom in Jerusalem and lead the world to peace and prosperity...
Looking back even further, Christian Zionists singled out 1517, the year the Ottomans conquered Jerusalem. It is also when Martin Luther is said to have posted his protest manifesto against the Catholic Church, launching the Protestant Reformation.
Although Christian Zionists are apologetic about Luther’s anti-Semitism, they believe that by popularizing individual Bible study, he helped reveal the falsehood of replacement theology. According to this doctrine, which was long a core tenant of the Catholic Church and remains influential, God took the title of the chosen people from the Jews and gave it to the Christians.
Christian Zionists have had decades to speculate about what historic change would happen in 2017, a half century after the Six-Day War. At a conference for Christian Zionists in Jerusalem on Thursday titled “Balfour to Nikki Haley: A Century of Christian Zionist Diplomacy,” a popular guess among the 100 or so Evangelical and Jewish participants was that President Donald Trump would fulfill his campaign promise to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv. But with a only two months left in the year, time is running out".

  7. can someone fill me in a bit more on this concept of the Mahdi- some background? I'm reading the comments, but, no context for understanding- how did the Mahdi come from judaism? etc?
Kaz- nice to see you still here :)
" mahdi believe came into islam bi siitis and christianity and judaism."
what do you mean by this?

    1. Mahdi is the concept of the final savior of mankind. the following probably differs from religion or religion but the main one is "He is the one who shall change to world order and defeat all evil and the Antichrist or dejjal, he will come at a time of distress". This savior concept seems to be present in one way or another in every religion. However this is for what I know not present in the Holy book of the muslims(Quran)

Now how this concept infiltrated Islam, is likely due to that the shia branch who say the latest imam the 13rd will be "Imam mehdi" and slay the evil and combine all mankind under is flag. And since the last century the muslim world is in distress they probably also took it over for, I dunno a reason endure all the pain and hope.

The Christianity and Judaism think the same but within their own structure of how mahdi should be.

Within the Sunni branch and its divided, but a part thinks that mahdi which they all expect is actually prophet Muhammed since he is the last prophets of all and unlike all the previous, his message is for mankind instead of tribe. People of Judaism and Christian faiths rejects the idea that prophet Muhammed is the last one and thus that final savior of mandkind. So the seat of mehdi is open and thus they hope it will get fulfilled, and naturally some details changed.

"Kaz- nice to see you still here :)"
      - Never left, its just I don't like repeating myself so if I have nothing new to add I don't post.

    2. The Mahdi is the copy of the Jewish Messiah.
"The Messiah (Hebrew: מָשִׁיחַ‎‎, translit. māšîaḥ, sometimes spelled Moshiach), is the one chosen to lead the world and save it. The term also appears in the forms Messias (Ancient Greek: Μεσσίας, translit. Messias), Christ (Ancient Greek: Χριστός, translit. Khristós), or Al-Masih (Arabic: المسيح‎, ISO 233: al-masīḥ).
In Judaism, the Messiah (הַמָּשִׁיחַ‎, HaMashiach, "the anointed one"),often referred to as "King Messiah" (מלך המשיח‎, Melekh HaMashiach), is expected to descend from King David and accomplish the unification of the twelve tribes into a re-established nation. The Jerusalem Temple's rebuilding will usher in a Messianic Age of global peace" [in other words the millennial terrestrial Kingdom dominated by Jews from Jerusalem].

In Christianity, the Messiah is called the Christ, from Ancient Greek: χριστός, translit. khristós, translating the Hebrew word of the same meaning. Unlike Judaism and Islam, the Messiah in Christianity is the Son of God, as Lord and Savior. Christ became the accepted Christian designation and title of Jesus of Nazareth, because Christians believe that messianic prophecies in the Christian Old Testament were fulfilled in his mission, death, and resurrection".
For Christians the 'Kingdom of God' is spiritual (in fact it means the Holy Spirit imparted to any person baptized in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit). Christians do not expect the instauration of a terrestrial Kingdom ushered by the Second Coming of Christ. The Second Coming means the Last Judgement. Millennialism in Christianity is a Jewish infiltration.

Muslims believe that Jesus will come again on earth to smash the Crosses, kill the pigs and punish all who claimed that he was the Son of God (i.e. to destroy Christianity) and bow to the Mahdi, imposing the pure Islam all over the world! This belief is attributed to the Prophet by the Hadiths (which have the same authority as the Quran, despite the embarrassed denials of the Muslims who claim that they venerate Jesus more than the Christians!).

    3. thanks to both Kaz and WizOz for explaining all that :)

    4. I must add some relevant passages from the Christian Scriptures, which will show the total disconnect with the Jewish and Muslim expectations of a Kingdom of God on earth, the kingdom of material abundance, justice and endless pleasures.

"20When asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The kingdom of God will not come with observable signs. 21Nor will people say, ‘Look, here it is,’ or ‘There it is.’ For you see, the kingdom of God is in your midst (or, 'within you'). 22Then He said to the disciples, “The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it. 23People will tell you, ‘Look, there He is,’ or ‘- Here He is.’ Do not go out or chase after them. 24For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other, so will be the Son of Man in His day.…”(Luke 17:20-24).

"But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you" (Matthew 12:28).

"Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world; if it were, My servants would fight to prevent My arrest by the Jews. But now, My kingdom is not of this realm." (John 18:36).

The 'Kingdom' is the translation of the Greek βασιλεία= kingship, sovereignty, authority, rule, royal power.

'Christian Zionists' are Zionists masquerading as Christians to deceive them and goad them into their fight for 'Jerusalem the eternal capital of Israel'.

    5. @Wizoz,

About that, Again that is divided. some do like mahdi. and some don't think that jesus will return to the world.

Now about your Hadiths having the same authority as the Quran is incorrect. The Hadiths can only work as supplementary and there are different levels of hadiths. from Very Confirmed to very weak. The very confirmed ones a mostly about religious practice the weak ones are stuff like mahdi or jesus returning for example. And the moment we find out that a certain hadith is contradictory to the Quran, that hadith is rejected as a hadith. What I give is a summary, but you get the idea. so no Hadith does not have the same authority as the Quran.

    6. Muslims should be more forthcoming in explicitly rejecting those Hadiths which are offensive to Christians [that Jesus will follow Mahdi's lead in salat (prayer) after he descends] like this one:

[A narration attributed to Jabir ibn Abd Allah reports]:
"This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Jabir Ibn Abdillah al-Ansari that the Messenger of Allah said: "A group among my Ummah will continue to fight for the truth until Jesus, the son of Marry, will descend, and the Imam of them will ask him to lead the prayer, but Jesus replies: "You have more right to it, and verily Allah has honored some of you over others in this Ummah."
It is doubtful that they would ever do it, because this Hadith is in complete accord with the Quran in giving Jesus a subordinate role to Mahomed and proclaiming his unworthiness in comparison to members of the Ummah!

    7. Like the Muslims are one unified force, I tried looking for anything with regards to this in the English language and there I found nothing. But in the Turkish sources The Religious institution of Turkey said mahdi not being legit and you have professors of religion in Turkish universities saying, no mahdi comming and no isa(jesus) returning. Because as far as they see it, Jesus returning is a Christian problem not a muslim one.

The problems really lies with cultism and shias. because cultist don't have an academic degree to understand the full range of the different subjects within Islam, who pretty much in my eyes try to save face and not lose followers by accusing the voices I said above as apostates, because there are o so special. <_<

For shia, I am not sure but if I recall correctly the 13th imam mahdi is one of their core beliefs.

  8. Maybe Trump is really clueless - I always liked to think that there was method to his madness, now I'm not too sure! Putting the pieces together on this one leaves you very confused.

BTW - RT have been headlining for the past few days that there's no Isis fighters hold-up in Syria anymore, but UK media has COMPLETELY IGNORED this news! Its just Brexit - I'm pulling my hair out over the lack of proper news it the UK, especially when I have no internet (nightmare) a lot of the time these days!

    1. Hi Marie;
I know what you mean, because some are saying this is great for Israel. Most are saying that. But a few are saying this makes Israel a target.
What everyone appears to agree on is that this will make the entire region- more unstable- which is, i'm certain, what Trump was going for with this move
