Breaking Reports: Russia Has Responded to Plane Shootdown in Syria

Following up on the earlier news regarding the shootdown of a Russian piloted Su-25.

Russia Confirms Su-25 Downed in Syria- Repercussions?

That was fast.

Interesting that we now have two terror groups taking credit for shooting down the plane. Though original video/claim of shoot down was made by Jaysh al Nasr. Their logo featured prominently in the video. RT

"Tahrir al-Sham, the extremist group linked to Al-Nusra terrorists, has claimed responsibility for the downing of the Russian aircraft, according to Reuters.
Earlier, another militant group, Jaysh al-Nasr, which claims affiliation to the Free Syrian Army, also posted videos and statements about the Russian plane on its Twitter account"

 Another report via Metro UK

The Russians are believed to have used cruise missiles to kill more than 30 militants in an area of Syria’s Idlib where its plane had been downed.
The Russians fired a salvo of cruise missiles into Idlib province from Russian navy vessels in the Mediterranean.

I'm looking for further information regarding the reports of cruise missiles from the Mediterranean.

UPDATE 4:50 pm est

Reports say Russia fired numerous missiles from both the Mediterranean Sea and its Khmeimim air base in Syria.
Army bosses said radio intelligence determined that more than 30 Al-Nusra righters were killed in strikes by "precision-guided weapons".
Huge explosions have now been reported in a number of coastal areas, as well as Idlib, where the jet was shot down.

 I'll keep checking for updates

5: 10 pm est- Update #2:

Pentagon : US Has Not Equipped "Partner Forces" with  Surface to Air Weapons

Love the inadvertent admission of arming terrorists
Pentagon spokesman Eric Pahon told Sputnik on Saturday, hours after a Russian Su-25 attack aircraft was downed by militants in Syria, that the United States did not equip partner forces in Syria with surface-to-air weapons."Alongside by, with, and through our partners in Syria, the United States remains focused on the fight against ISIS [Daesh]. The US has not equipped any partner forces in Syria with surface-to-air weapons and has no intention to do so in the future.
Sputnik's continues reporting.. the US supplied their Kurdish thugs with ManPads  near Afrin.
Which happens to be not to far from where this shoot down took place.

"In January, the Al-Masdar News media outlet reported, citing own sources that the US had provided the MANPADS to the Kurds earlier in the month under the agreement between Washington and the YPG. According to the news outlet, the MANPADS have been delivered to the Kurds in the northwestern part of Syria near the town of Afrin. "

  1. Could this be the perps getting Russia to do their dirty work? All these proxy "rebels" are of no use now that the battle for Western Syria is fact they are a liability...should they ever start to "sing like canaries" about who fostered their activities. As in.... "Hey, let's order them to shoot down a Russian jet...and then the Rooskies will eliminate the useless proxies for us!" [say the perps]

    1. Interesting thought GC! :)

I'm following along as news breaks- between cooking supper and have just updated the post

    2. Interesting take on this situation, Crow... And one that could be valid considering how sick and twisted the US government has become in this war to destroy Syria....

I also will be following what is going on with this... Considering all of my family issues that I have had to take care of, I have a LOT of catching up to do....

    3. Hey North- Hoping the family issues resolve themselves soon? Your participation like GC's is important
Not to forget our other Canadian compatriots Yaya and Noor @ snippets and snappets

      The canucky crew- lol

  2. I'm noticing remarkably little US coverage of this incident.
Makes me think about superbowl tomorrow- while the football heads are fixated.. Does the USrael team have something in the works- What with Israel stealthily continuing to steal Golan

Might Israel make an overt move?

  3. Yes, the Ziotestosterone is at an alltime high. The Superbowl is an excellent "cover" for a false flag.

  4. "Ziotestosterone"... luv it. Thanks to you both for staying on top of this corner of the world. The US and Israel have both been masters at using others to do the nasty stuff tyhinking it somehow keeps their hands clean. But the rest of the world is learning to employ ethico-political face and hand sanitizers.

    1. between ziotestosterone and ethico-political sanitizers I'd say we got some serious memes going here :)

  5. Seems like just about every brand of mythical terrorist ever dreamed up is messing around in Syria. The CBC says: "The province [Idlib] is also a base for al-Qaeda's branch in Syria and other Islamic groups." I thought the al-Qaeda myth had long ago been debunked. It used to make me laugh when the CBC would report that Al Qaeda phoned them up to take credit for stuff. I think that was around the same time that Harper was using our tax dollars to support "regime change" in Syria. Harper was good at mimicry; he could probably pull off a good Al Qaeda fighter. (And of course many Israelis speak Arabic.)

    1. hey yayac
I find that phenomena- terrorists calling reporters- just gobsmacking! What do people think of that? Do they 'get it' what is going on?

I always think of Bin Laden. He's giving extensive interviews to media outlets but he can't be found?
      What's up with that?
