After Netanyahu Visit to Russia, Russia backs off Supply of S-300's to Syria

Recall me stating not just once rather on two occasions, here at the blog, regarding the recent heavy handed pushing of 'the s-300  to Syria' propaganda meme as one that appeared to be an Israeli construct.

April 20/18: S-300s' Syria, Russia & Israeli Spin
As stated then: " Israel is presenting the idea that S-300's are headed to Syria as a reality. As if it's guaranteed.  From what I've seen/read so far this is NOT the case That said Israel's claim gets me thinking about why Israeli talking heads may be presenting this transfer as a statement of fact?"
April 23/2018 : Russia: No Decision Yet on S300's

As stated for a second time: All promotion of the S300's being present in Syria or being a sure thing at this time is speculation that plays into the Usrael propaganda machine- Spreading incorrect information, seems to me, is doing the work of the global tyranny, witting or unwitting. Lavrov made clear if Russia makes this decision it will be made public.

The fruit of the Israeli propaganda meme has come to bear. Israel told Russia, Netanyahu directly to Putin,  said do not send them and Israel is having it's way.
Typical Israeli propaganda.

Reuters: Russia, after Netanyahu visit, backs off Syria S-300 missile supplies
Russia is not in talks with the Syrian government about supplying advanced S-300 ground-to-air missiles and does not think they are needed, the Izvestia daily cited a top Kremlin aide as saying on Friday, in an apparent U-turn by Moscow.

The comments, by Vladimir Kozhin, an aide to President Vladimir Putin who oversees Russian military assistance to other countries, follow a visit to Moscow by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this week, who has been lobbying Putin hard not to transfer the missiles.

haaretz After Netanyahu Visit, Russia 'Not in Talks' With Syria to Supply S-300 System

The comments follow Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to Moscow this week, who presented to Putin "Israel's obligation and right to defend itself against Iranian aggression, from Syrian territory"

You see Israel worked their magic and now Russia is not sending the S-300's to Syria?

That's how liars tell lies! - It's so easy to do because  truth exists and lies have to be made up,  and since there was no decision made, no agreement on sending the S-300 to Syria anyway..... It's very easy for Israel to claim they stopped something that wasn't about to happen!
Particularly easy when Israel's media originated the lie in the first place!

TASS is reporting: Nixing delivery of S-300's Unrelated to Israeli Visit

Obviously it's unrelated, since there was no agreement to provide the s-300's this last little while. No decision was made. Lavrov had stated had one been made it would be announced to the public.

Now the spin will be that Russia is just 'face saving' by denying the Israeli visit is connected to the S-300's not going to Syria- When the reality is-THERE WAS NO PROOF THAT THE S-300'S WERE GOING TO SYRIA

  1. First things first: Hats off to your incredible work! I'm reading your blog regularly for a few years now and I have always noticed the coherence of your well written posts. I've commented 2 or three times in this times, whatever.
Back to the topic at hand: With all those powers at play, those negotiations behind closed doors, all those strategic pushs and pulls we can only guess, we can come to our conclusions. I believed the interests of the Russian Federation were overlapping - luckily - with the wish of many Syrians to save their country from this disgusting US-EU -Israeli-Saudi-Qatari-(Turkish?) onslaught. And I do understand, that Bibi and co. like to push story-telling to the extreme, trying the perceived reality to their will, with all majour news outlets complying with their narrative. So maybe these speculqtions about wether or not those S-300 are being integrated into the command of the Syrian Army have also been spun to create a specific narrative which leads the world to believe Israel has its way. ALWAYS! Maybe...HOWEVER...Israeli F-16 freely flying around, bombing as they please AND destroying newly bought Russian air-defense systems (Pantsir-S1), apparently without having to fear any-effing real consequence takes it to a new level. I cant take this whole "they dont want to show off their real military capabilities (Russians), storing their weapons for the real battle" anymore. I really wish I was wrong, I really do!!! But having Satanyahu strolling along side Putin on V-day, while the IDF is attacking Syria (and...Iran) and showing to the world "There goes yer Russian air-defense...poooff!"...This is just too much. I get that Putin&co. have to deal with an array of different problems, but in this battle, its a humiliation! OR, Putin has backed off generally speaking. I cant see any coherence; if I assumed Russia is willing to make a point and show its political/diplomatic/military might. It just doesnt add up. At this point the question about S-300 deliveries is almost irrelevant. Once again, I really wish I was wrong. Keep up your excellent work Penny!

    1. Hello Anonymous!
Very nice to meet you :)
And I thank you for taking the time to read my posts

"With all those powers at play, those negotiations behind closed doors, all those strategic pushs and pulls we can only guess, we can come to our conclusions.

It's a bit more then guessing, that which we all engage in. Albeit it's based on limited information.
One also has past experiences/knowledge and history to go on and I'm also reminded of the fact that most "intelligence" is publicly accessible- think google/social media etc.,

I believed the interests of the Russian Federation were overlapping - luckily - with the wish of many Syrians to save their country

Yes, Russian interests overlap with some but not all Syrian interests- except for territorial sovereignty- I think in that regard they are on the same page completely because the anglo zionists want to break up Russia too. But, Russia can't find Syria's battle in that regard- They can assist but Syria's got to do it alone- To continue on with Syria would exhaust Russia and that can't happen.

"Israeli F-16 freely flying around, bombing as they please AND destroying newly bought Russian air-defense systems "
I don't think Israel is entering Syrian airspace, but, not sure if that makes a difference or if it's important

" I cant take this whole "they dont want to show off their real military capabilities (Russians), storing their weapons for the real battle" anymore

I don't believe anything like that- It's much more likely, in my opinion, that what is being used is what is needed at this time- the pantsirs are integrated into the S-400 already which is a superior to the s-300, which is also why I've found the s-300 meme to be such a dog and pony show.

" But having Satanyahu strolling along side Putin on V-day, while the IDF is attacking Syria (and...Iran) and showing to the world "There goes yer Russian air-defense...poooff!"

Or Maybe the show of weapons was a message to Israel? Red lines of sorts, I don't know. The whole V Day meeting can be interpreted so many ways. Like how about besides the weapons message the message inherent in the Victory Day celebration itself- we fought bitterly to the end and we won?

      Time makes everything clearer.

In some ways I fear the thought of an all out showdown in Syria- which looks to be more and more likely..

Should read 'But, Russia can't fight Syria's battle in that regard-

  2. Penny, I can't claim to fully understand any of this, and can only surmise, but Israel has been hitting Iran in Syria, and doesn't Russia supply Iran? Wouldn't that make any question of Russia supplying Syria irrelevant in this instance? Even Canada now wants to sell planes to Iran:
    https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-canada-eyeing-meeting-with-iranian-officials-in-ottawa-despite/

Iran also, for the moment, still has the support of Britain, China, France, Germany, and Russia with regard to the nuclear agreement Trump just scuttled. Bibi talks a lot of bombast, just like Trump, but it seems to me that Putin talks with anybody who wants to talk with him, though it may well not mean he's in agreement with anything they say. Maybe Iran in Syria is a way of drawing fire away from Iran proper, as well as taking some of the heat off Assad as he tries to regroup? And maybe France is right, that the US is becoming isolated in the world - which of course would include its buddy Israel. Maybe the mantra of Israel being an innocent victim of its neighbouring countries isn't holding as much water internationally as it once did, though some might be trying to keep up external appearances? Maybe the whole world assumes Israel, Saudi Arabia and the US did 9/11, and now are stuck with each other, while the world power shifts out of their hands? How's that for pie-n-the-sky? ;-)

    1. YaYaC; that is the weirdest article?
There is no actual meeting scheduled. Nothing

"Talking points prepared for the meeting say that “at some point an Iranian delegation will likely come to Ottawa, but no timeline has been established.”

So they've created talking points, allegedly, for a meeting that's not been scheduled with anyone while claiming at some point in time they will meet with "an Iranian delegation", but, no specifics on just what delegation they'll be meeting?

That article makes me dizzy and has me wondering if their intending to meet with some version of an "Iranian government in waiting"???

and the alleged talking points for the meeting with WAshington- what's the context?

      Here's the 3 themes

three themes: 1-“Canada’s response to Iranian threats,” which included Tehran’s nuclear program and its support for terrorism; 2-“Suggestions for great multilateral co-operation,” focused on including Ottawa in efforts to monitor Iran’s nuclear weapons program; and 3-“Canada’s re-engagement with Iran.”

Response to Iranian threats? What might that response be?

Multilateral cooperation? with who for what?
What's this like supporting terrorists to overthrow the government of iran

Which takes us too #3: Re-engagement with Iran
What's that? re engagement when a new puppet government is ensconced?

    2. Yep, it's vague alright. Your mention of "an Iranian government in waiting" has reminded me that Iranians living in Ottawa are very anti-Ayatollah. I recall passing a group of well-heeled Iranians (no doubt fans of the former Shah of Iran) outside the Iranian Embassy who were handing out leaflets and shouting "No Ayatollah". They no doubt influence our Minister of Foreign Affairs. And she is extremely anti-Russia for her own personal reasons.

But you know that money is the root of all of this crap and that all the wars have made money for all of the instigators (banks, big biz, the weapons industry). The main reason Iran is demonized is because it nationalized its oil, after the Shah was deposed, and used it to improve the living standards of its people, which in turn affected world oil prices. Chrystia Freeland reveres George Soros, so that's a big warning sign right there. Nothing she does will seem rational.

  3. I'm in avoidance mode. I should be writing a blog article, but keep getting sidetracked. Here's the most recent interview with Syria's Assad.
