Putin, Erdogan and Rohani: Upbeat Press Conference. Lots of Agreement

Following Up On...  Trilateral Summit on In Ankara- Is Everyone on the Same Page? Damascus labels SDF as "separatist terrorist militia", again.

                                 -------------------------------------------

I'm getting the impression that this has been a productive meeting, undertaken to finalize that which was likely discussed in advance of this latest get together- Indicates the "why" of the letter sent by Damascus to the UN. Covered in today's earlier post.

And yes the trio stated Israel's attacks on Syria are destabilizing. As they are intended to be...

"The presidents consider Israeli military attacks in Syria as destabilizing, violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country, as well as leading to increased tensions in the region," the Russian-language version of document, published on the Kremlin’s website, reads.

"The leaders of Russia, Iran and Turkey announced Monday that they agreed to form a committee tasked with rewriting Syria’s constitution as part of a political solution to the country’s civil war, now in its ninth year"

I for one, don't understand this obsession with rewriting the Syrian constitution. What's the point ? Hasn't it been already rewritten several times ? What will it be based on ? The European model ? The ZioAmerican ? The Iranian ? This seems suspicious to me.

Rewriting the constitution will be done to reflect the realities of present day Syria- just my opinion. But that's the impression I get from all the reporting on the topic.

      https://syrianobserver.com/EN/news/53002/the-coming-constitutional-committee-to-see-the-light-at-astana-guarantor-summit.html

A Russian source told Brocar Press that the Russian president’s special envoy to Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, on Sunday transferred a message to Bashar al-Assad, calling on him to end their opposition of one of the names, so that a full list can be put forward at the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

The formation of the constitutional committee has been expected since the last Astana guarantors summit in February. But regime objections to six of the names on the civil society list held up its formation.

The idea of the constitutional committee was put forward by Moscow at the Syrian National Dialogue conference in Sochi at the end of January 2018. The committee includes 150 members, with the regime naming 50 of them, the opposition 50, while the previous UN Special Envoy to Syria, Staffan de Mistura, selected 50 members of independents and specialists.
