Are Westerners Broken People? Why do we tolerate our own forces of oppression ?

One last post, think of this as your heavy duty thought for 2010.
The actual article in entitled "Are Americans a Broken People".
However....the question asked "Why We've Stopped Fighting Back Against the Forces of Oppression" does not apply only to Americans.
The questions applies equally to people that would be characterized as "westerners".
That is, Americans, Canadians, Brits, Aussies, Italians, Scottish, German etc., etc., most everyone understands or should understand the term 'western'.
This fellow asks a lot of good questions.

A psychologist asks: Have consumerism, suburbanization and a malevolent corporate-government partnership so beaten us down that we no longer have the will to save ourselves?

Can people become so broken that truths of how they are being screwed do not "set them free" but instead further demoralize them? Has such a demoralization happened in the United States?

Do some totalitarians actually want us to hear how we have been screwed because they know that humiliating passivity in the face of obvious oppression will demoralize us even further?

What forces have created a demoralized, passive, dis-couraged Western/U.S. population?

Can anything be done to turn this around?

Read the article at the link, share your thoughts and most of all......
Best wishes for as much good in 2010 as is possible, for everyone!

2009 wrap up: economy, swine flu, bank bail-outs and false flags

Before we say sayonara to 2009, I am going to take a shot at some prognositcations.
All in fun of course, but then if I am correct?!......

I have taken out my crystal ball, what is it this seer see's?

The financial crisis that talking heads are saying is over. It ain't over, not by a longshot!
Little hints at this have been in the mainstream press the past month or so.

-IMHO: Economically 2010 is going to be worse.
"Furthermore, a recent paper prepared for the U.S. National Bureau of Economic Research suggested Washington might try to deal with its monster debt by allowing inflation to rise, thereby eroding the real value of the debt held by creditors"

Here, however is a big hint- Société Générale tells clients how to prepare for potential 'global collapse
Inflating away debt. That isn't going to work out well for the masses, the common folk.

Ok, so the financial crisis isn't over, though the prevaricators are telling us so.

-In 2010 government and business will work together against the interests of the people. That's just a continuation of 2009. Thinking specifically of the swine flu scenario.
You know the one that was going to kill us all, unless we took untested vaccines and ingested massive quantities of tamiflu like products.
I have an uncounted number of posts on this blog citing numerous, repeated conflict of interests, surrounding swin(e)dle flu and the rampant profiteering.
(if you are so inclined hit the swine flu label at the bottom, and begin reading)

The swine flu "outbreak" appeared to be a collusion between business and government. Staritng at the highest level the WHO and working it's way down to local governments, as would be expected in a follow the leader type or top down scenario.

This article brings that point home: Advisers on Vaccines Often Have Conflicts, Report Says
A new report finds that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention did a poor job of screening medical experts for financial conflicts when it hired them to advise the agency on vaccine safety, officials said Thursday. Most of the experts who served on advisory panels in 2007 to evaluate vaccines for flu and cervical cancer had potential conflicts that were never resolved
But, then didn't the former head of the CDC just join Merck?

-For 2010, the revolving door will indeed keep right on spinning.
See how easy this prognisticating is?

As the door spun between government and big pharma, so to did the spinning take place between banks and government. Of course the best banks, as characterized by those that spent the most cash lobbying, got the biggest bail-outs! Banks With Political Ties Got Bailouts, Study Shows

-U.S. banks that spent more money on lobbying were more likely to get government bailout money, according to a study released on Monday.
-Banks whose executives served on Federal Reserve boards were more likely to receive government bailout funds
-Banks with headquarters in the district of a U.S. House of Representatives member who serves on a committee or subcommittee relating to TARP also received more funds.

-In 2010: There will likely be more false flags like our undie bomber.
I am going to let Webster Tarpley have the final say.

What PM Harper wanted for Christmas? Prorogue the government.

Taking dictatorship to unseen heights in Canada, PM Harper is expected to request Parliament be prorogued.
Harper to request Parliament be prorogued until March

Why would the dictator, er, I mean the Prime Minister make this request?

One reason: Such a move would halt the work of Parliamentary committees, including one that is investigating Afghan detainee abuse, an issue that has been plaguing the Conservatives for months.

Oh dear, so troubling...Detainees tortured? We don't want to deal with that.

Another reason: Harper will likely appoint another group of new Senators.

Recall Harpers promise to have an elected senate? Another empty promise.
From the same political leader that promised transperancy and accountability.

But, why load the Senate to create a majority position?

The Conservatives have been frustrated that the Liberal-dominated Senate has held up legislation already approved by the House

One piece of legislation rejected and rightly so was Bill C #6.

And, you know Canada has to get through the Olympics. That is such a priority!
Tanks, LRAD, Militarization , but not just Canadian soldiers.....
NAU partners: Canadian/ US/Mexican Military Coordination

This entire move worries me. Where is the effective opposition to this tyrannical move?
Could a false flag be on the horizon? With no effective government to respond?
Or will Canada finally and formally be told it is part and parcel of the NAU?
Questions, questions and more questions

Santa delivers the gift of the season, the gift of a Prorogue!
Parliament suspended until March

"It's almost despotic," Goodale told CBC News in an interview from Phoenix, Ariz. "Three times in three years and twice within one year, the prime minister takes this extraordinary step to muzzle Parliament. This time it's a coverup of what the Conservatives knew, and when they knew it, about torture in Afghanistan. So their solution is not to answer the questions but, rather, to padlock Parliament and shut down democracy."
Almost despotic? Almost? No, it is despostic!

The long planned war on Yemen

I notice the recent news contains much shouting that Yemen is the "new front" for the war on terror. All thanks to the latest alleged AlQuaeda recruited underwear bomber!

Sigh, First the shoe bomber, now the undie bomber, perhaps next the hat bomber?

Anyway.... getting back to the alleged 'new front' in the war on terror?
This claim is about as realistic as the lies many parents told their children this past week about Santa coming to the house. Ho, Ho, Ho it just ain't so!

Yemen has been a new front for war for this entire past year. All covertly. Up until about two weeks back. But even that didn't appear to brightly on the radar.

The timely underwear bomber made it all possible to speak aloud, that which the US and it's allies have been doing for nearly a year.

Note the increase in military spending by the US in Yemen in 2009?

US has increased military aid package to Yemen from less than $11m in 2006 to more than $70m in 2009

From just 11 million dollars to 70 million. A better then 6x increase?

In 2009- US spent tens of millions of dollars boosting Yemen's coastguard and border security and providing helicopters with night-vision cameras. The US has also provided intelligence gathered over Yemen by unmanned drones.

The US has not been alone, the UK has been there with them in all of 2009

The UK has also invested heavily in aid to Yemen. It has quadrupled its development assistance since 2007, allocating £105m between 2009 and 2011, though no figures on funds for military training were available

Both the US and UK have trained Yemen's counter-terrorism unit

And the US has bombed and killed scores of civilians in Yemen

Including a cruise missile attack on December 18th/09 ordered directly by the White House.

Noting in the news report below Yemen was cited by Obama in his speech, regarding the surge in Afghanistan, as a place that attacks could be expanded to as part of the 'war on terror'

Therefore- looking at all the facts. The intent has always been to attack Yemen. The underwear bomber was the propaganda coup needed to justify, to the public, the reason for the already planned attack

Moratorium called on GM Foods

I couldn't agree more!
GM foods, making humanity ill, one manipulated gene & dollar of profiteering at a time

There is more than a casual association between GM foods and adverse health effects. There is causation as defined by Hill's Criteria in the areas of strength of association, consistency, specificity, biological gradient, and biological plausibility.5 The strength of association and consistency between GM foods and disease is confirmed in several animal studies.2,6,7,8,9,10,11

Specificity of the association of GM foods and specific disease processes is also supported. Multiple animal studies show significant immune dysregulation, including upregulation of cytokines associated with asthma, allergy, and inflammation. 6,11 Animal studies also show altered structure and function of the liver, including altered lipid and carbohydrate metabolism as well as cellular changes that could lead to accelerated aging and possibly lead to the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). 7,8,10

Changes in the kidney, pancreas and spleen have also been documented. 6,8,10 A recent 2008 study links GM corn with infertility, showing a significant decrease in offspring over time and significantly lower litter weight in mice fed GM corn.8 This study also found that over 400 genes were found to be expressed differently in the mice fed GM corn. These are genes known to control protein synthesis and modification, cell signaling, cholesterol synthesis, and insulin regulation. Studies also show intestinal damage in animals fed GM foods, including proliferative cell growth9 and disruption of the intestinal immune system.6

A Tale of Two Terrorists?

I have made mention of this phenomena previously, but, a quick post to illustrate the point.

The photos in the press of alleged terrorist Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab are so blurry, that his identity is somewhat obscured. I find this really odd. But, it is not just the poor quality of the photos, it is the fact that there appears to be two different looking alleged terrorists!

Here are two examples:
From the Guardian, Toronto Star and most of the major western media outlets

Now a photo from Ghana press:

Taken from this article: Failed Nigerian bomber bought air ticket from Ghana

The man in the photo in the Guardian: thinner face and nose, fuller lips.
From the Ghana Press: we are looking at a man with a much rounder face, broader nose and thinner lips.
They don't even look like the same people, despite the obscurity of the photo being used in the Western Media.

Peter Levenda- The Power Elite

In my humble opinion this is a must hear interview for the Dave McGowan Programmed to Kill/Laurel Canyon crowd. Or anyone else interested in MKUltra, mind control, the Kennedy assassinations, and very interestingly something called "the nine" and more.

I have actually listened twice, and felt I must share. So give a listen and share some thoughts.

Attempted Terrorism on Plane?

My first thought upon hearing this news story? Richard Reid the Shoe Bomber. What a character!

This was earlier reported as a case of a passenger setting off fire crackers on the plane. So, I thought at that time possibly someone who had been drinking to much?

One report I saw mentioned the alleged terrorist name had been spelt in different ways.
That is always interesting.

This is curious-
According to US Senator Peter King, Mr. "We'll take care of the counting", the would be terrorist's name was on an intelligence watch list, but his name never made it to the no fly list.

Peter King confirmed that the man, identified as Nigerian citizen Abdul Mudallad, 23, probably had terrorist links as investigators discovered his name in the intelligence agency's list.

However, the man reportedly has not appeared on the U.S. Government's "no-fly" list.

More curious-

Officials in the Netherlands said an initial investigation showed that routine security procedures were followed at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam with no irregularities. Mutallab's name was on the passenger manifesto that was forwarded and approved by U.S. authorities before takeoff.

So we have the Senator informing the populace that this man's name appeared on an intelligence agencies list as having 'terrorist ties'. However, his name is not on the 'no fly' list.

He passed through all routine security at the airport. His name was on the passenger manifesto and the list was approved by US authorities before takeoff? But, we are supposed to believe that he was on some intelligence list?

Upon having more time to read, this one is the son of a Nigerian banker. The father feared that his son may have been the one on the plane that detonated the firecrackers/explosives, because he had been to Yemen!

"I believe he might have been to Yemen, but we are investigating to determine that," said the elder Mutallab, who served as chairman of First Bank of Nigeria from 1999 through this month.

Intelligence and anti-terrorism officials in Yemen said they were investigating claims by the suspect that he picked up the explosive device and instructions on how to use it in that country. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak to the media.

Is there more then one Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab?

University College London issued a statement saying a student named Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab studied mechanical engineering there between September 2005 and June 2008. But the college said it wasn't certain the student was the same person who was on the plane.

The connection to Yemen? How fortuitous for the US. Now they can publicly justify what they have been doing, rather under the radar, for a while now. Killing civilians

I am sure this was scary for the passenger, however, reading eyewitness accounts, the fire was put out with bottled water.

She said three men leaped out of their seats to restrain the man and put out the fire, using water bottles and their bare hands.
One more thing-
I have a tough time seeing a parent take this type of action.

The investigative file was opened after Mr. Abdulmutallab’s father warned officials at the United States Embassy in Nigeria of his son’s increasingly extremist religious views, the official said.
If as a parent he was concerned about his son's "extremist" religious convictions, why would he notify the US embassy? Wouldn't a parent who was concerned about a child's religious conventions talk first to the child? Other family members? Another religious figure?
Family Doctor? Psychiatrist or Psychologists? Why would anyone notify an embassy, particularly a foreign embassy?

This is just to fishy.

I am including a map of the region including Yemen, Somalia, Ethiopia and Gulf of Aden.

Enjoy the holidays, everyone!

So, this is Christmas?

It doesn't have to be.

Even if you don't view it or celebrate it as is traditionally done that is ok.
Because the real message in Christmas is universal, it crosses all cultures and traditions.
The message is basic and timeless.
It is the giving, but not of material goods. It is the giving of kindness and consideration and thoughtfulness, not just to those we love, those who are near and dear.
But to all of mankind equally and without judgement.

A quote from Dickens -"A Christmas Carol"

"But I am sure I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round -- apart from the veneration due to its sacred name and origin, if anything belonging to it can be apart from that -- as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time: the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow-passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys. And therefore, uncle, though it has never put a scrap of gold or silver in my pocket, I believe that it has done me good, and will do me good; and I say, God bless it!'"

Keep the holidays in the spirit they are intended.

Swine flu "pandemic" hoax

I see the press is big on hoaxes as of late, calling this the decade of hoaxes. Given that they help to perpetuate them, they should know all about them.

One of the biggest hoaxes, in my humble opinion was the swine flu scare, or as I call it the swin(e)dle flu. Starting with the change in pandemic definition. Hot lines and doctors set up to automatically diagnose you with swine flu. Urging you to get an untested vaccine and take the useless tamiflu and other drugs of it's ilk. All fed by the endless fear mongering via the main stream media, that couldn't muster rational analysis if it's life depended on it. No wonder traditional media is losing readership and viewers!

Here is some of the latest on this hoax.
There was another vaccine recall in the US. This time 4.7 million doses. Same problem the dosage was allegedly not potent enough. But don't worry if you got the vaccine, your protected?

This recall of 4.7 million doses, just after a recall of more than 800,000 doses of impotent vaccine from another manufacturer. Don't worry your protected ;)
But from what?
Because, though many people were told they had swine flu, most didn't!

"Kansas City, Missouri-based ViraCor Laboratories found that only 6 percent of the samples it was sent tested positive for influenza A virus"

That's H1N1. In Just 6 percent of the samples.
By far the most common is rhinovirus, one of the so-called common cold viruses, the testing company found.

The rest include a range of flu-like viruses, each caused by a distinct germ but all causing similar symptoms.

These same types of results were reported in Britian and Canada.

Most cases believed to be H1N1 are actually the common cold or another flu-like bug
Last week in Ontario, fewer than one in four cases of suspected H1N1 tested positive in laboratory analysis. In British Columbia, the rate was one in three. The rest, based on samples, were mostly rhinovirus – the common cold – and enterovirus, a common flu-like bug.

That didn't stop the mass and useless vaccinating. Or the ingestion of the equally useless Tamiflu.

That said, it was a payday for the big pharmaceutical conglomerates. And a cause for advancement for others.
Because Merck's new head honcho is the former director of the CDC! Merck of the vioxx scandal.

Oh the revolving door between the government and private sector just keeps on spinning.
It's getting harder to tell the difference between just who is governing, for the benefit of who exactly?
And what's her job? Boosting the vaccine division! How rich is that?
And how timely that she will join Merck exactly after her one year mandatory leave before entering the private sector.
Does have one entertaining the thought, that she knew she had the job and that was why she stepped down from the CDC when she did. Or who really knows-revolving door- perhaps she was already working for Merck while at the CDC? Stranger things have happened.

You want some chemotherapy with those chips and fries ?

So Health Canada wants to add a chemotherapy drug to potato chips and french fries?
And, they want to know if Canadians think this is acceptable? Tell them what you think here.
I should hope Canadians think it unacceptable.

The makers of the foods that this will be added to are pushing for it's inclusion
"McCain's, Frito Lay and other companies are urging the Canadian government to approve the food additive"

Of course they are. Because profits are their bottom line. They are concerned you may buy less of their product, but with the addition of a supposed anti-cancer drug in there...wowee, you will eat even more of that crap, and they can likely up their prices.
Forgetting of course about the fatty, nutritionally devoid products that chips and french fries really are.

The media is certainly putting a positive spin on it.
Research suggests asparaginase reduces the production of acrylamide
Well a suggestion is not a guarantee.
They are also calling it an anti-cancer drug, as if it has proven preventative properties.
That is misleading. It doesn't have proven anything, just suggested.
What the media is failing to mention is this is a chemotherapy drug and not a preventative anti-cancer drug.

Drug type: Asparaginase is an anti-cancer ("antineoplastic" or "cytotoxic") chemotherapy drug. This medication is classified as an "enzyme." (note the quotations)

Side effects:
  • Fever, chills (see flu like symptoms)
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Allergic reaction, (sudden onset of wheezing, itching, rash, face swelling, agitation, low blood pressure). You will be monitored closely for this reaction.
  • Poor appetite
  • Stomach cramping
  • Central neurotoxicity: excessive sleepiness, depression, hallucinations, agitation, disorientation or seizure. Less commonly seen stupor, confusion and/or coma.

Less common side effects
  • Mouth sores
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) in up to 10% of patients. Mainly noted in blood tests that return to normal after therapy is discontinued. Rarely may be severe causing symptoms. Symptoms of acute pancreatitis include: (pain in the upper abdomen that worsens with eating, swollen and tender abdomen, nausea, vomiting, fever, and rapid pulse).
  • Blood test abnormalities (Increased blood glucose level - some refer to this as "sugar").
  • Increases in blood tests measuring liver function. These return to normal once treatment is discontinued (see liver problems).
  • Blood clotting disorders, increases risk of both bleeding and clotting.
Should people be consuming this on a regular basis so french fry and chip makers can continue to increase sales of generally unhealthy products anyway??

Carbon Market suffers with price falls after Copenhagen

I can't let this pass. Copenhagen was not about clearing the air or reducing emissions.
It was about making money, creating a new commodity, creating the next bubble.
Making nuclear power cost effective, helping Monsanto....

Al Gore and his carbon trading firm have just lost money, perhaps pay cuts will be in order for Jim Hoggan/Desmogblog and any other PR agencies bought and paid for to promote the carbon profiteering agenda? Like Hill & Knowlton

Carbon prices react strongly to climate deal

After the UN climate talks ended on Saturday, European carbon markets on Monday suffered from the aftermath of the climate deal.

Emissions trading market at a standstill

What if a carbon market opened, but nobody came to trade?

When the Montreal stock exchange forged a partnership with the Chicago Climate Exchange three years ago, there were great expectations that a fully functioning North American carbon market was just around the corner.

Yah, I'll bet there were great expectations, expectations to make money!

I like this one in particular;
What Copenhagen Accord means for prices, markets

The bankers weigh in...

* Mark C. Lewis, analyst at Deutsche Bank

"There is now no near-term prospect of the EU raising its 2020 target. As a result, sentiment will be negatively affected and we expect EUA prices to decline over the next few sessions."

* Meg Brown, analyst at Citigroup

"This is likely to result in a negative impact on EUA prices in the short term, through 2010 and potentially through to 2020.

Richard Gledhill, head of climate change and carbon market services, PricewaterhouseCoopers

If passed by Congress, climate legislation in the U.S. could create a market three times the size of the EU emissions trading system. That would be a massive boost to the global carbon market, but would also move its focus from London to New York."

Israel and the business of organ harvesting

In August/09 when a Swedish story first broke on organ harvesting, there were shrieks of denial and of course derision for the journalist and the usual accusations of anti-semitism and racism. All a bit tiresome, no?

Often when one witness that kind of diversionary tactic being used, that sort of shoot the messenger and ignore the message, it leaves one with the impression that the message is quite likely true. And in the case of the harvesting of organs, it seems the original story was hitting the nail squarely on the head.

Here are some of the latest news reports on the Israeli organ harvest and trade.
An admission that yes organs were harvested, but that practice has ceased.
I find that claim questionable, as there have been just too many recent reports to believe that has been the case.
Read articles in their entirety at links provided.
Israel Organ Harvesting Palestinians And Soldiers; Secrets Revealed

A scientist from Israel admitted to harvesting organs from dead bodies without permission from family and loved ones of those who died. According to reports, Dr. Yehuda Hiss admitted to these crimes.

This story is interesting because it refers back to the Swedish story of Aug/09
Israel admits organ harvesting

Four months ago Israel threatened legal action against a Swedish newspaper which published claims that Israeli soldiers had killed Palestinians to harvest their organs.

But now, Israeli television has broadcast part of an interview with the former head of Israel's Abu Kabir forensic institute who has acknowledged pathologists did harvest heart valves, skin, corneas and bones from Israeli soldiers and civilians, Palestinians and foreign workers

This story from Sweden

Following diplomatic tensions over an August article published in Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet accusing the Israeli army of illegally harvesting the organs of Palestinians, Israel has admitted its forensic pathologists removed organs from dead bodies without consent from their families

This one from Counterpunch is quite interesting as it covers a lot of issues in this whole debacle.
Done in August 2009 after the Swedish new story broke it covers an extensive range of inter-connected stories.

Including the arrest of Levy Izhak Rosenbaum of Brooklyn, he called himself a "matchmaker," but not the kind of matchmaking that leads to love.

Authorities say he brokered the sale of black-market kidneys, buying organs from vulnerable people in Israel for $10,000 and selling them to desperate patients in the U.S. for as much as $160,000. Here is a more recent story on the organ brokers case. He was in court Dec.08/09

It is all kind of goulish....

Russia Surprised by US and EU stance on resolution

Russia is concerned over the stance of the United States and the European Union on a UN resolution condemning the glorification of Nazism and the desecration of WWII monuments, the Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.

The UN General Assembly adopted on December 18, 2009 a draft resolution proposed by Russia on combating racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance.

The resolution is aimed at condemning attempts to heroize the Nazi movement and former Waffen SS members and desecrate monuments to the fighters against Nazism.

"It is highly bewildering and regrettable that the United States voted against the resolution, supported by an overwhelming majority of UN member states, and a number of states, including all European Union members, abstained in the vote on the draft," the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry said it was surprised by the position of the former Soviet republics of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova which abstained from the vote, even though their peoples fought against Nazis during World War Two.

On Saturday, the Georgian authorities demolished a memorial to WWII heroes in the country's second largest city, Kutaisi. The blast, which was used to demolish the monument, killed two people.

(Demolishing monuments etc., is
sometimes a justification for invasion, think Afghanistan)

If there is an agenda is to erase history and create a new "western friendly" version.

Drugging Impoverished Children & Bhopal 25 yrs later

Today feels like a follow-up kinda day. Follow up news is good because it broadens the understanding of a given issue.

Starting with this - Poor Children Likelier to Get Antipsychotics, which follows hot on the heels of this- Pharmaceutical Goldmine:Children's developing brains

"New federally financed drug research reveals a stark disparity: children covered by Medicaid are given powerful antipsychotic medicines at a rate four times higher than children whose parents have private insurance. And the Medicaid children are more likely to receive the drugs for less severe conditions than their middle-class counterparts, the data shows.

Do too many children from poor families receive powerful psychiatric drugs not because they actually need them — but because it is deemed the most efficient and cost-effective way to control problems that may be handled much differently for middle-class children?

So rather then ensuring good nutrition, financial stability, adequate housing... DRUG'EM!

And finishing in India, 25 yrs after the Bhopal disaster, A cloud still hangs over Bhopal

This is the 25th anniversary of the Bhopal gas disaster, an epic mess that started one night when a pesticide plant owned by the American chemical giant Union Carbide leaked a cloud of poisonous gas. Before the sun rose, almost 4,000 human beings capable of love and anguish sank to their knees and did not get up. Half a million more fell ill, many with severely damaged lungs and eyes.

An additional 15,000 people have since died from the aftereffects, and 10 to 30 people are said to die every month from exposure to the hundreds of tons of toxic waste left over in the former factory. But amazingly, the site still has not been cleaned up, because Dow Chemical, which since acquired Union Carbide, refuses to accept any responsibility. The groundwater is contaminated; children of the survivors suffer from genetic abnormalities; and the victims have long since run out of their measly compensation and are begging on the streets.

India is now looking at a nuclear future with no liabilities for the power generator, and the Bhopal survivors and their advocate do not wish to see a horrific repeat via a Nuclear Bhopal.
Something for all the Copenhagen adherants to think about.

The Hemp Post !

Time4Hemp, lots of information there on industrial hemp, medical marijuana and more ......

They have a page called Hemp is Fuel. The chart is astonishing.

Oh and be sure to click on the chart to get the entire picture, blogger has it's limitations.

But, hey better to use corn to produce ethanol with it's "carbon footprint" and starve people, cause that is the Copenhagen way.

Plus ya know, Monsanto can create some GM products to further contaminate food crops. Oh the diabolic potential!

As suggested by Gallier
The Emperor Wears No Clothes

Chapter 1 -16 available there...

And a selection of interesting little facts-

The much-sought-after prize of full British citizenship was bestowed by a decree of the crown on foreigners who would grow cannabis, and fines were often levied against those who refused.

Cannabis hemp was legal tender (money) in most of the Americas from 1631 until the early 1800s. Why? To encourage American farmers to grow more.

You could pay your taxes with cannabis hemp throughout America for over 200 years

From more than 1,000 years before the time of Christ until 1883 A.D., cannabis hemp, indeed, marijuana was our planet’s largest agricultural crop and most important industry, involving thousands of products and enterprises; producing the overall majority of Earth’s fiber, fabric, lighting oil, paper, incense and medicines. In addition, it was a primary source of essential food oil and protein for humans and animals.

Finally the 100,000 dollar challenge I had heard a reference made to in an interview at Gnostic Media.

Our $100,000 Challenge to the World:

Try to Prove Us Wrong

If all fossil fuels and their derivatives, as well as trees for paper and construction were banned in order to save the planet, reverse the Greenhouse Effect and stop deforestation...

Then there is only one known annually renewable natural resource that is capable of providing the overall majority of the world’s paper and textiles; meeting all of the world’s transportation, industrial and home energy needs; simultaneously reducing pollution, rebuilding the soil, and cleaning the atmosphere all at the same time…

And that substance is—the same one that did it all before—

Cannabis Hemp…Marijuana!

Is it any wonder the chemical and fuel industry want this one to stay as an "illegal"?

Canadian Psychiatric Study: Marijuana alters brain

No sooner had I finished the post on how many kids are on powerful mind altering "legal" drugs.

I check out the news and come across this "Teen marijuana use affects brain permanently"

Who funded the study? The Canadian Psychiatric Research Foundation
The study: 18 adolescent and adult rats that were exposed to cannabis.
And of course they find a link to mental illness?

"These permanent changes in the brain are also linked to certain mental illnesses, like schizophrenia," Gobbi said Thursday."

How they hpothesize this conclusion from a study of 18 rats? I don't know?

But, these psychiatrists/doctors are intentionally altering the brain with very powerful prescription drugs. Long term effects are no doubt permanent. These are the same doctors prescribing powerful psychiatric drugs to kids as young as 3 or 4.

BTW: another very large study out of Australia:

This latest study, led by Dr. Martin Frisher of Keele University, examined the records of 600,000 patients aged between 16 and 44, but failed to find a link between marijuana useage and mental illness.

600,000 patients or 18 rats?
Here is the message: Illegals/bad - Prescription drugs/ good.

Be sure to be good kids and get your drugs the prescribed way.......

Pharmaceutical Goldmines: Children's developing brains and AstraZeneca's shame

Getting back to the abuses of big Pharma and by goodness there are sooo many!
That is one industry that has alot more blood on it's hands then most people realize.
Two interesting and connected stories.

First-US Kids/Psychiatric Goldmine
-Prescriptions for psychiatric drugs increased 50 percent with children in the US, and 73 percent among adults, from 1996 to 2006

-On April 22, 2009, the US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality reported that in 2006 more money was spent on treating mental disorders in children aged 0 to 17 than for any other medical condition a total of $8.9 billion.
-Compare that to the cost of treating trauma-related disorders, including fractures, sprains, burns, and other physical injuries, was only $6.1 billion.

Sensing a problem in those figures? Wondering how it is this came about?

The path to child drugging in the US started with providing adolescents with stimulants for ADHD in the early 80s. That was followed by Prozac in the late 80s, and in the mid-90s drug companies started claiming that ADHD kids really had bipolar disorder, coinciding with the marketing of epilepsy drugs as "mood stablizers" and the arrival of the new atypical antipsychotics.

Parents can now have their kids declared disabled due to mental illness and receive Social Security disability payments and free medical care, and schools can get more money for disabled kids. The bounty for the prescribing doctors and pharmacies is enormous and the CEOs of the drug companies are laughing all the way into early retirement.
The system is rigged to disadvantage children.
Sadly, parents put to much faith in this system. Don't. Do some research, do your homework and examine, honestly, the interaction between yourself and your children.
As for the schools, the doctors, the ability to get benefits for children. This is an insane system that obviously needs to be changed.

But, of course there is money involved. Where there is money there is corruption and get a load of this alleged doctor?

AstraZeneca Paid $500,000 to Psychiatrist Who Used Chicago's Poor as Guinea Pigs

Chicago psychiatrist Dr. Michael Reinstein was bringing the company a small fortune in sales and was conducting research that made one of its most promising drugs look spectacular.
On the other, some worried that his research findings might be too good to be true.
As Reinstein grew irritated with what he perceived as the company's slights, a top executive outlined the scenario in an e-mail to colleagues.
"If he is in fact worth half a billion dollars to (AstraZeneca)," the company's U.S. sales chief wrote in 2001, "we need to put him in a different category." To avoid scaring Reinstein away, he said, the firm should answer "his every query and satisfy any of his quirky behaviors."

I really gotta wonder where are the usually stingy insurance companies? No alarm bells here?
Amazing, really?

Still want to 'believe' that Copenhagen is going to make a difference ??

Then you would be sorely, sadly mistaken!

The emissions aren't going to be reduced and prices are going to massively increase.
Here is the admission....

James Hansen, a professor at Columbia University who is credited with bringing global warming to the attention of U.S. Congress in the 1980s, said he doubts that measures being discussed at Copenhagen, such a cap-and-trade system, would actually force countries to produce fewer greenhouse gase

"We're not going to in fact turn down the emissions with the kind of actions that are being talked about."

"As long as fossil fuels are the cheapest energy, then they're going to continue to be used, and even more so. So you have to put a price on the carbon, on the fossil fuels -- coal, oil and gas."

Canadian Climate Skeptic, fudged data and NASA retracts

This is an interesting article Toronto Star
I am going to post some excerpts...

So why is a retired mining analyst living near Broadview and Danforth Aves. – a squash-playing grandfather who prompted a U.S. congressional hearing by crunching global warming research on his home computer – not invited to the party?

Because Stephen McIntyre is an enemy of climate change believers, a man who, essentially, double-checks the math behind research accepted as green gospel. Though his painstaking "hobby" has exposed flawed data supporting studies like the "hockey stick" graph – it claimed the 1990s was the millennium's hottest decade – he's considered a denier by those who fear the planet is burning up.

So the exposure of flawed data is nothing new, or startling. Perhaps it is a pattern?

Stephen McIntyre is a University of Toronto mathematics grad – who also attended Oxford

McIntyre first questioned the accuracy of the "hockey stick" graph that tracked the earth's temperatures over the last 1,000 years. He said the length of the study conjured images of the Vikings landing in Labrador, and he wondered how lead scientist Michael Mann, head of Penn State's Earth System Science Centre, reconstructed the temperatures to produce such a detailed graph.

He is a stickler for details and he wanted to know how Michael Mann had created this graph.
Fair enough.

So he asked Mann for the data in an email – and was stunned by the answer. The climatologist wrote he'd "forgotten" where the data set was but would get an assistant to find it.

Michael Mann had "forgotten" where the data was? Does that seem credible to anyone? Really? It doesn't to me. Apparently Mr. McIntyre is sharp enough to find that odd!

"Here's a guy in his mid-30s, this is his claim to fame, the biggest paper of his life, probably the biggest paper of his career, it's been used on the front page of a UN study and sent to every household in Canada – how the hell could he not know where the data was?" McIntyre said.
Makes it kinda tough for people to corroborate his work independently, unless, corroboration is not what one is going for? Real corroboration, that is.

"Nobody had ever checked this stuff with any sort of due diligence,'' he said.

"What I find that is far too prevalent among climate scientists is that if they don't persuade somebody of something, they blame the audience, not the presentation," said McIntyre

In 2007, McIntyre's statistical sleuthing forced NASA to admit it mistakenly claimed 1998 was the warmest year on record on the continental United States – it was actually 1934
. And in September, he questioned the data in another famous graph (using rings from 12 trees in Russia) to illustrate rapid 20th century warming. McIntyre, who works with University of Guelph economics professor Ross McKitrick to co-author papers, presented another data graph with 34 tree samples from a nearby Russian site – and the temperature spike vanished. The latter graph has prompted dispute among researchers as biased math. But McIntyre is not finished. As the Copenhagen talks begin their second week, he will continue to watch for intellectual dishonesty.

What, 1934 was actually the hottest year on record??!!!

Tony Blair- War Criminal & Carbon Profiteer

In case anyone has missed the admission by Bush's poodle
"I would've invaded Iraq anyway"

Well bully for you Tony! I mean war is "fun" for people like you, it feeds the ego, or overfeeds the ego, if that is possible for a meglomaniac?

The feelings of empowerment that come from making decisions that crush the lives of humanity, what a rush! And of course, the prestige...yes, the prestige that one gains going around the world surrounded by 'yes men' pronouncing the righteousness of your insane decision.
And last but certainly not least the profits, Oooo, the profits. That can be had from the proper investments in the business of warfare. War Profiteering.

How does the meglomaniac who lusts for power gain more? More wealth, more prestige and even more 'yes men'? It is a dilemma for Tony. How can he become further empowered and enriched by spreading misery, wider then just one country?

Have no fear Tony Blair has got it figured out!
How to spread the misery in the name of doing the "right thing"

His impassioned plea for a deal at Copenhangen came just weeks after he registered the name "Low Carbon Capital Fund".

Gone is George Bush's poodle! Now we have Al Gore's__________

The Secret of Oz- Monetary Reform

Heard an interesting interview today with Bill Still about this movie.

This trailer should whet the whistle of those interested in banking or monetary reform.
Ellen Brown- Author of Web of Debt, Michael Hudson, Peter Schiff appear.
Unfortunately so does Joseph Farah.
Well, you can't win them all.
Check it out!

Swin(e)dle Flu- Vaccine recall, Tamiflu useless, Numbers infected -false!

Vaccine recall

More then 800,000 doses of vaccines have been recalled, but, it is no big deal!
Though the doses allegedly had a potency that was too low, you will not need to have your tots revaccinated. Does that make sense? After all the swine flu fear mongering?

Despite the nature of the recall, children who were vaccinated with the weakened doses should not be revaccinated because the antigen content "is only slightly below the 'specified' range," according to the CDC
This raises some interesting questions-
1. If the level of antigen was satisfactory to do the job, why recall the vaccinations?
2. If the level of antigen was to low to do the job in the recalled vaccines, do vaccines not recalled, have levels of antigen that were to high? Could this be a problem?
3. Is the vaccine manufacturer going to return the tax dollars paid for these useless vaccines?
4. If weakened doses of vaccine will suffice and revaccination is not necessary what does this say about all the fear mongering.

The British Medical Journal has concluded that Tamiflu and other drugs of it's ilk are useless.

A team from the prestigious Cochrane Review says that its analysis of published data about clinical trials of the drug, known generically as oseltamivir, shows that the drug is able to reduce the course of an influenza infection by a day but that they are unable to conclude that the drug is effective at reducing complications and hospitalizations caused by flu
Apparently Roche is not allowing access to key data? Do read the entire article as it is quite interesting.

80% percent of people who were told they had swine flu, DIDN'T!

But it was good for the Tamiflu makers, one million doses have been given out.

"It has led to allegations that millions of pounds has been wasted"

It wasn't a waste for big pharmaceutical, no indeed, it was all very profitable.
For taxpayers, whose money was foolishly spent, millions has been wasted.

Big Polluters (OIL) to reap the BENEFITS of climate deal

Read here, here or here for full story

So much for that theory that there is no money for these hugely profitable players in the carbon trading scheme.

-Big energy and engineering companies will reap most profit from a climate deal due in December, as they use their financial and intellectual clout to grab low carbon subsidies

-Utilities and oil companies, among the biggest polluters, are using their market awareness to stay ahead of a climate race, manoeuvring to own the most viable low-carbon technologies.

-In addition, they are a natural magnet for government incentives (not a surprise)

-CCS(carbon, capture and sequstration) is receiving billions of dollars but may take a decade to develop. It is popular with big corporates as a bolt-on to coal plants which may use depleted oil wells to store carbon dioxide

-The European Union's executive Commission two weeks ago awarded 1 billion euros to 6 CCS projects, Alberta has committed 2 billion dollars for carbon capture
And the DOE has been on a virtual tax payer funded spree to benefit big polluters, read oil and coal

-Not everyone is happy that oil firms, utilities and big engineering companies may hold the keys to a low-carbon future,

-High-carbon utilities ( big oil) may also have an unfair headstart after winning windfall profits under Europe's emissions trading scheme,

From Al Gore's Investment Management to DeSmogBlog

There has been a heated discussion taking place here on the plethora of issues surrounding the concept of global warming. I notice that the supporters of a Copenhagen deal immediately decry anyone who questions this entire scenario with the backed by "big oil" accusation.
So naturally anyone who questions has an automatic conflict of interest.

Let's set that thought aside for now, and take a look at the source often used as reference to back up the assertation, "big oil" backing the questioners.

A blog called DeSmogBlog. A play on the Quebecois accent?

Nice blog, lots of work put into it, and not a free use the one I post on.
I guess all my big oil funding, isn't that big. lol.
Anyway, I am curious, as always, what is dis DeSmogBlog? Who is behind it? How much money does it take to run this slick site? So, whilst in this curious state I click the About Us button.

"The DeSmogBlog team is led by Jim Hoggan, founder of James Hoggan & Associates, one of Canada's leading public relations firms"

Hm! A public relations firm running,in my opinion, a foolishly named blog.
Well I am sure they must have done some market research for that one?
But, my thought here is public relations firms are employed by someone, payed for by someone.
After all a public relations firm is there to make money.
So let's do a little more digging, shall we?

Reading more I come to this:
"His client list includes real estate development companies, high tech firms, pharmaceutical, forest industry giants, resorts and academic institutions."

But, when I clicked the link I got a 404, Not Found.
A dead end? Not for me.

I do a bit more searching on Jim Hoggan and I find he sits on the Board of Directors of The Climate Project Canada
And when one looks at the home page for Climate Project Canada, there is the face of Al Gore.
That is when I had my AHA moment! AHA!
Let's go over to Mr. Gore's Carbon Trading Website: Generation Investment Management LLP
This is Al Gore's pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, the very, very profitable carbon trade market. His very glaring conflict of interest!
Now go over to the link Partnerships
Here is the list:

Oh looky, looky! The Climate Project! The very same Climate Project that has Jim Hoggan on the board of directors.
The very same Jim Hoggan that is running DeSmogBlog, fully staffed!

Now, we should be able to put two and two together and figure out that Jim Hoggan and his PR Firm have to be in the employ of Al Gore's Generation Investment Management LLP.
Because PR Firms are employed by someone, staff has to be payed somehow?
Making DeSmogBlog a site that has it's own bias and it's own unique conflict of interest.

Banks: Liquidity via drug trade-Don't tax City of London Bankers

One industry greatly served by a prohibition on drugs.

Billions of dollars of laundered drug money and cash from other illegal activities kept the global banking system afloat at the peak of the financial crisis.

"Inter-bank loans were funded by money that originated from the drugs trade and other illegal activities... There were signs that some banks were rescued that way"

This will raise questions about crime's influence on the economic system at times of crisis
It is understood that evidence that drug money has flowed into banks came from officials in Britain, Switzerland, Italy and the US.

City of London Bankers threaten exodus if the big fat bonus cheque's are taxed.

Keep in mind that the city of London is an independent and sovereign territory, same as Vatican City.

So will the new payroll tax on bank executive bonuses mean the City of London will relocate and become the City of Avarua (Cook Islands) or, more likely, the City of Luxembourg?
Frankly, I was a little surprised to see that mentioned main stream media. It is however near the bottom, and no one really ever reads to the end....

Apparently the poor little rich bankers don't want to ante up any taxes to the lackey governments. I mean with friends like these bankers, what government needs any other enemies?

Veiled threats to leave London from an industry that insists it must pay out billions in bonuses to remain "competitive", barely a year after driving the global financial system to the brink of collapse, have largely fallen on deaf ears among politicians and the public.

And this statement from Bob Diamond, the head of Barclays Capital and one of Britain's highest-paid bankers, warned last week.

"It's very important that the major financial centres are balanced . . . This has to be a race to the top, not the bottom."

Except for the rest of us, right Bob Diamond?
The non-elitist populace. Average Jane and Joe. For the rest of us ...??
It is a race to the bottom, and then you all can fight for the scraps!

Warming the environmentalists heart -Nuclear Power and Frankenfoods

Since becoming a questioner of the man made global warming orthodoxy I have been accused of being an anti-environmentalist. And, who knows maybe I am a "right-wing" think tank devotee, or possibly a blogger for big oil.

None of that is true, but, it is a shoot the messenger tactic, engaged in when the message is one that is not favoured. Silly, really...but what can I say?

"We can afford to ignore neither the carbon-free electricity supplied by nuclear energy nor the transformational potential of genetic engineering."

No, I didn't regurgitate that nonsense.. That quote came from an article linked in a previous post , which discussed how the fight against carbon, or humanity, as it should be called had some very strange beneficiaries. Strange particularly for environmentalists.

One of those was the GMO food manipulators. Strange to see environmentalists wanting something that Monsanto is clearly yearning for. But, if you think that is strange, wait till you get a load of Nuclear Power as a "carbon free" source of electricity. Because mining uranium is a carbon free process, I guess? Sure, cause it is mined on another planet.

But lets take a look at this "carbon free" nuclear industry.
Some recent news out of India.
In order for India to get in on the 'carbon free' nuclear industry they have to make some huge concessions to the US's private sector energy players...

"But private sector players like GE and Toshiba Westinghouse say they will not invest until India ratifies the Convention on Supplementary Compensation for Nuclear Damage (CSCNL) and installs a domestic civilian nuclear liability regime.

Like his predecessor, President Obama is pushing India to guarantee that the Union Carbides of the nuclear world suffer no losses regardless of the role that may have been played by their equipment or technology in causing the disaster.

“What this will do is indemnify American companies so that they don’t have to go through another Union Carbide in Bhopal,” he said. Local operators, on the other hand, will have to raise $450 million up-front to cover post-disaster compensation costs. Additional costs will have to be borne by Indian taxpayers"

How do Bhopal Activists feel about this?

BHOPAL ACTIVISTS are “disgusted” by the attitudes of the Indian and US Governments. “A nuclear disaster will have far greater impact than Bhopal had. Environmental contamination will spread farther. Bhopal has taught us that $450 million is woefully inadequate to deal with a disaster’s fallouts,” said Rachna Dhingra of The Bhopal Group for Information and Action.

Yah, that "carbon free" nuclear power is looking good....
And still, what to do with the spent fuel? OH yeah, tip some more bombs and spread the radiation, cause that is not bad for the environment.

Copenhangen & pre Iraq attack coverage- deja vu

I been paying attention to the fawning media coverage of the climate change issue.

I am having a flash back to the Iraq media coverage. The media is singing from the same hymnal. In unison, almost complete unison. Interesting?

Then I notice the smear on anyone who questions the global warming scenario.
For instance Lord Monckton is being presented as the leader of the climate skeptics.
Is he? Not likely. But that is what is being claimed, and then he is being soundly smeared.

Makes me think of Scott Ritter, he who cast doubt on "the Iraq has WMD's claims".
Didn't the media smear him with claims of, unproven of course, that he was arrested in a sex scandal. Yeah, they did. But the entire scenario was so shaky, the lead prosecutor was unaware of the case? But the timing of this media coverage, was perfect to cast doubt on Scott Ritter as a credible person. One problem, Scott Ritter was correct.

And the portrayal of the protestors. Certainly not the usual troublemakers& anarchists claims.
Though the protestors in Copenhagen are not limited to climate protestors.

Apparently there is a whole litany of issues represented

One sign urged the overthrow of the Iranian government. Hmm, CIA backed?, “Earth in Need: Delete Meat,” -vegetarians, Free Tibet, Libertarians, Anarchists, Anti-Capitalists.. and the skeptics.

Yeah, the police detained 1,000 protestors, but they are mostly all already released.
Who knows what they were protesting, with all the varying groups represented.
But, does one ever read of that happening at the G-20 protests? Or the WTO protests?
Anyone remember the protests in Genoa, Italy? Every protest was characterized as a riots/or clashes. How about the recent killing of Ian Tomlinson at the G-20 protests in Britian. And the ensuing smear and cover-up? ( Ian Tomlinson was a man who drank to much)
Where is the LRAD? That figured so prominently at the G-20 in Pittsburgh?
How about the tear gas?

And one more thing, that struck me as odd? I have never heard this said before to protesting people with regard to their protests.

Conference President Connie Hedegaard "You don't have to exert that kind of violence to be heard because this is a process where your views are very much included"

That is an absolute first, in my book. I can't recall every having read something like that being said to the protestors, that their views are included in the process?

Anti-Copenhagen protesters arrested?

It looks that way.

I see this headline 40 protesters detained in Copenhagen. What? From what I had read the political talking heads (Gordon Brown) had been praising the protesters. So what the heck is this?
Then, I read the whole piece.

40 people arrested for demonstrations linked to the ongoing climate summit.

Linked to the climate summit? weird language.
But then look at what the protesters were chanting

On Friday about 200 people took to the streets of the Danish capital, banging drums and shouting chants such as "Mind your business, this is our climate!"

Hmmmm, I am thinking these protesters were anti-Copenhagen treaty.
Telling political leaders to stay out of the climate issue.

And, they were detained as a "preventative measure"

Canadians, just say no to drugs..... except big pharma's drugs

But of course, say yes to prescription pain killers.

Isn't this amazing? Taxpayer drug plans will pay for highly addictive, killer drugs. Then fund the methadone clinics to get the prescription addicts unhooked. Then the taxpayer will continue to pay for the "war on drugs" but not the ones dealt by big pharma. Cause this is one crazy world, upside down, sideways and black is white.

Study finds huge rise in oxycodone deaths

Deaths in Ontario from prescription narcotics have doubled in the last five years, fuelled in part by the addition of OxyContin to the province's public drug program, a new study suggests.

The addition of a long-acting form of oxycodone, called OxyContin, to the province's drug formulary in January 2000 corresponded with a five-fold increase in oxycodone-related deaths.

""We were quite surprised by the number of deaths that related to prescription opioids"

Of course, their surprised. Really? I don't believe that.

After Oxycodone was added to the provincial plan:
-Prescriptions for oxycodone rose by more than 850 per cent during the study period -- an increase that was much larger than for any other narcotic pain reliever.
-Deaths from any opioid increased by 41 per cent over the next five years.

In fact, deaths from prescription opioids far outnumbered those from heroin
More potent than morphine

The manufacturer of OxyContin, Purdue Pharma, promoted it heavily when it was first introduced and that may be why the drug became so popular among physicians.

Two years ago, Purdue and three of its former executives, pleaded guilty to misleading the public about OxyContin's risk of addiction and less subject to abuse than other pain medications. In fact it is highly addictive and can be used by recreational drug users, who have dubbed it "hillbilly heroin."

Wow, the drug company lied! I just can't believe it. (facetious)

Canadians and debt and banker bonus's tax free

Oh bad Canadians...taking on to much debt.

You are making the economy more vulnerable, yes YOU are!

Not the banks who are relentlessly offering you more ways to indebt yourself, given that it is highly profitable for them. NO bad people!

You need a credit line? Don't worry, you won't have to pay on it, if you don't use it. Or you can pay the interest only. Banks like that one.

Want a mortgage? Here let us give you a forty year amortization. Because you really can't afford this home, but, you can with a forty year am.! Oh, and the banks will be rolling in the interest payments.

But, Canadians, people, average people, you are the problem!

How about this? Something really radical. Restrict the banks from offering debt to people who really can't afford it? You can't pay off a house in 25 years, you don't get a mortgage.
But the banks, can't have that, so blame the people.

Oh and you bad people, you can keep paying your taxes. But Bankers bonus's? No taxes to be collected on that! Canada doesn't want to "impose punitive taxes on anybody"

Oh really? What Flaherty really means is, we don't want to impose taxes on our special interest pals and those we are beholden to. But, hey regular joe and jane taxpayers can bail the banks out with their punitive taxes, that is just hunky dory with Ol' Jim Flaherty!
Then Flaherty claims Canadians didn't bail banks out, but actually Canadians did in a round about way... the taxpayers, took 25 billion dollars of mortgages off of the banks books. That happened in October 2008. That is a bail out.

Carbon, the new energy commodity

Just came across this, and isn't it interesting?
May 21/09 Almost 7 months ago.
U.S. panel OKs CFTC to regulate carbon derivatives
Carbon as an energy commodity

Under his plan, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission would have the authority to regulate carbon derivatives as an energy commodity.

"The carbon derivatives market should be based on a strong regulatory framework," Stupak said. "The finite nature of carbon credits and absence of a physical commodity leave it particularly vulnerable to speculation."

An energy commodity? Interesting. And, since there is an absence of anything physical it is obviously vulnerable to speculation. Imagine that? I mean who would have ever thought of anything so unique, a commodity of nothingness... save for speculators, oil companies, banks and governments hungry for tax revenue.

There are market protections included in the climate change bill. I wonder is there anything else but market concerns in there?

Stupak's carbon and energy market protections included in the climate change bill would:

* Give CFTC the authority to regulate all over-the-counter (OTC) trades that are currently not regulated.

* Regulate foreign boards of trades with energy transactions traded for delivery in the United States or on a computer terminal located in the United States.

* Close the swaps loophole, no longer allowing energy transactions to be excluded from the requirements of the Commodity Exchange Act.

* Ban naked credit default swaps.

* Set aggregate position limits for energy speculators across all markets.

* Clear all swaps through a designated clearing organization, taking them out of the "dark" markets without oversight.

* Allow the CFTC to collect fees and create an independent funding stream for oversight and enforcement of commodity markets.

* Establishes carbon as an included energy commodity subject to CFTC regulation.

Book Mark this! Gnostic Media

While listening to a Meria Heller show, her guest made mention of this site.
Yeah, I have been keeping it to myself, until now.
This section of their website is very good- Gnostic Media Podcasts

Here the word 'gnostic' pertains to knowledge, and not necessarily dogmatic "Gnostic" teachings. The word gnostic has it's origins in the word 'knowledge' or to know [Greek gnosis, knowledge, from gignoskein, to know].

A show that takes you far beyond the commonly understood concepts of religious practice, history, philosophy, the ancient mysteries, and politics, into the heart of cognizance itself.

My focus is to bring together the leading independent and academic scholars from their respective fields of study to discuss shamanism, entheogens / psychedelics, religion, fertility cults, archaeoastronomy, direct religious experience, politics, and much more.
Some of the interviews- Well, Eustace Mullins -Part 1- knocked my socks off yesterday.
I will catch the second part today. Talk about a startling revelation.

Also interesting- the interview with Dr. Barbara Erhenreich on her book -Bright-Sided, How the Relentless Promotion of Positive Thinking Has Undermined America.
Discussing how all this mindless positive thinking is leading to, well, being mindless.... How desperately we need critical thinking. I second, third and fourth that thought!

Also an interview there with Ellen Brown on her book -Web of debt- That one is on my Christmas List, the book that is.

And more, much more.

John Lennon Remembered

Yesterday, 29 years had passed since the assassination of John Lennon.

All you need is love!
