Phil Spector & Charles Manson: Makin' music together???

Charles Manson. One of the central figures in the Laurel Canyon Saga from Dave McGowan has reached out to convicted killer, and producer extraordinaire Phil Spector. Who knows maybe they already have some history?

Phil Spector >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Charles Manson

Convicted cult leader Charles Manson has reached out to convicted music producer Phil Spector suggesting that the two jailbirds collaborate on pop songs. Both men are serving life sentences in central California's Corcoran State Prison.

Manson contacted Spector shortly after the producer arrived, dispatching a guard with a note. "[Manson] said he wanted him to come over to his [cell]," Spector's wife, Rachelle, told the New York Post. "He said he considers Philip the greatest producer who ever lived."

Manson and his followers recorded songs with the Beach Boys' Dennis Wilson. Terry Melcher, who produced the Byrds' Turn, Turn, Turn, was another acquaintance – and a target – of the group.

From another article:

In the 1960s, Manson befriended the Beach Boys' Dennis Wilson and the group (Beachboys) released a reworked version of his track 'Cease To Exist' as 'Never Learn Not To Love' in 1968.

Anyone ever heard that one, not being a Beach Boys fan at all....

Manson has made several records while in prison

Swine flu: How scared should we be?

In yesterday's post I mentioned this article to two of the persons who left reponses.
I was referring to the scare mongering about the alleged severe second wave.
The entire article is worth a read. I will however, quote the section I was referring to.

"Swine flu may return in flu season, in October and November," says Schabas, "but the incidence of serious illness will be low."

He points to Australia where swine flu arrived in May, at the start of its autumn and winter. As of this week, 45 people have died there and the number of cases is about 16,000.

Schabas says a flu virus with a second surge more potent than the first has never happened before – and he includes the influenza pandemic of 1918-1919. An estimated 500 million people, one third of the world's population, were infected then. Lacking antibiotics or ventilators, anywhere from 20 million to 50 million died.

Schabas says there is nothing but anecdotal evidence to support the common belief that the Spanish flu, as it was called, consisted of a first wave in the spring of 1918, then a second, more lethal wave in the winter. He suspects it was an altogether different virus the second time round.

He blames the media for exaggerating fears, not so much with inflammatory stories, but by being "amazingly uncritical" of the public health establishment.

He is not alone:

Enter Dr. Neil Rau, medical director of infection prevention and control at Halton Healthcare Services. He too flatly says swine flu's second wave isn't going to be a "a bestseller pandemic" any more than the first.

"It's not going to be the evil foe they're expecting. We'll see more incidence this winter, but there is no evidence of more virulence coming."

Why are he and Schabas seemingly alone in their contradiction, or at least downplaying, of what public health officials nationally and internationally have been saying since April?

"Fear of sticking out? Empire justification?" he offers, then adds: "Schabas and I aren't funded by organizations whose existence relies on appearing prepared. There are a lot of people out West, in B.C. (where H1N1 first hit in Canada), who tacitly agree."

US and Canada may use experimental additives in Swine Flu shots

Swine flu vaccine manufacturers may be allowed to use experimental additives in the vaccines!?
Is the claim that they have not done this before legitimate?
The most common adjuvants presently allowed are Mercury (Thimerosol) and Aluminum Hydroxide.
So, are these entirely new adjuvants? Is fast tracking these vaccines with experimental adjuvants a good idea?

Note: there is some discrepancy depending on resource wether Thimerosol is an adjuvant or just a preservative. Read linked article above.

In the U.S. an emergency declaration to use experimental additives made by GlaxoSmithKline Plc and Novartis AG to boost a limited supply of shots that will be available to fight the pandemic.
The ingredients, known as adjuvants, may be added for the first time to flu shots in the U.S.

“The question is, do you really feel comfortable throwing this new thing into the mix and do you really need to?” said Treanor, a professor of medicine, microbiology and immunology at the school in Rochester, New York. “I myself, if I had to do it, would really wrestle with that decision.”

As swine flu vaccine becomes available in coming months, boosting compounds known as adjuvants may stretch out limited supplies. But they also pose special challenges for vaccine regulatory agencies in places like Canada and the United States. Neither country has licensed flu vaccines with adjuvants in them before.

FYI: If you are here reading the swine flu postings, be sure to click the"swine flu" tag at the bottom of the post. Doing so brings up every post on the subject and there are links in each post.

Mourning a lost dove

Try as I did to protect the doves nesting in my porch from the prowling cats, I couldn't keep my eyes on them continuously. Sadly the female dove was attacked. The neighbour found the bird in their yard. She told me, the male bird was beside his mate sort of pecking her, as if to say get up, let's go.The female bird was alive but not in good shape. The neighbour then took the bird to the humane society. I imagine she died there.

What adds to the sadness of this whole situation is the male bird has spent the past two days calling for her. He comes under the porch roof, where they nested. He calls and calls. He flies two houses over, sitting on the roof's peak and very methodically calls in every direction. He faces to the east and calls. Then north, then west, then south. He then flies away, and I can hear him calling for her.

Yesterday, when he came into the porch, I went and spoke softly to him. Yes, I am a sap and I admit it. I said, I don't think she is coming back. No matter how much you call. He looked at me, I looked at him. No, I don't think he understood me, but he did stop calling.

This pair of doves had hatched 3 clutches of eggs in my porch this summer. For a total of 5 young birds. The last two birds we were able to get a pic of the eggs. Later, we tried to get a pic of the babies, but the one time we looked the female birds had them sort of half underneath her, with her breast feathers all ruffled to keep them warm. And, before you know it they are gone.
And so now, is the female bird.
I wonder what the male bird will do? Apparently these birds mate for life, so will he find a new mate? I think eventually he will. Though right now he seems more melancholy then ever.
We removed the remains of their nest, it did contain one egg. We discarded everything.

I end this post listening to the male bird calling for the third day now. I can see him sitting where the nest was. No matter how much he calls, she cannot come home.

Bush gov quashed cell phone report

Gotta love the cozy relationship between Government and Industry, big Industry.
This news just out:

Why Did the Feds Bury Data on Cell-Phone Dangers?

No, governments should not be hiding studies that do not favour there big business friends.

Yes, this information would have helped lawmakers made better decisions regarding laws passed to keep roads safer, but, but, but.......

But, I have to also wonder, why people have no sense?
When you are driving it should be obvious to you, you cannot give your full attention to the road, if you are yakking away on the phone, caught up in a conversation and oblivious to the road. The same for text messaging.

Then as a society, we all end up being subjected to an endless stream of laws attempting to control the minutiae of our lives. Good God people ya got brains, use them!

Global Warming: Religion of the First World Urban Elites

I used to be in the man made global warming camp, now I am not so sure.
It began to feel more like a way to make profits, then to address a problem.
The 'cap and trade' and 'carbon credit' schemes that are already in use have done nothing to recitify this alleged problem.

Geologist Ian Plimer takes a contrary view arguing that man-made climate change is a con trick perpetuated by environmentalists

I don't agree with that entirely. I see it as a con perpetuated by investment firms, think along the lines of large banks and investment houses cannibalizing the working classes for every pound of flesh! With well meaning and or co-opted environmental groups as the 'vehicle' of information.

Plimer is a geologist, professor of mining geology at Adelaide University, and he may well be Australia's best-known and most notorious academic.

Plimer, you see, is an unremitting critic of "anthropogenic global warming" -- man-made climate change to you and me -- and the current environmental orthodoxy that if we change our polluting ways, global warming can be reversed.

The dynamic and changing character of the Earth's climate has always been known by geologists. These changes are cyclical and random, he says. They are not caused or significantly affected by human behaviour.

Polar ice, for example, has been present on the Earth for less than 20 per cent of geological time, Plimer writes. Plus, animal extinctions are an entirely normal part of the Earth's evolution.

Plimer gets especially upset about carbon dioxide, its role in Earth's daily life and the supposed effects on climate of human manufacture of the gas. He says atmospheric carbon dioxide is now at the lowest levels it has been for 500 million years, and that atmospheric carbon dioxide is only 0.001 per cent of the total amount of the chemical held in the oceans, surface rocks, soils and various life forms. Indeed, Plimer says carbon dioxide is not a pollutant, but a plant food. Plants eat carbon dioxide and excrete oxygen. Human activity, he says, contributes only the tiniest fraction to even the atmospheric presence of carbon dioxide. Read the rest here

What the Fed doesn't want you to know !

The taxpayer is left holding the bag, the worthless bag, that they have paid trillions for.
Ron Paul's bill get's a mention.

Washingtons hand in the Honduran Coup.

As stated it was obvious, if your were paying attention, from the very outset of the coup in Honduras the hand of the US was firmly behind it. Canada's silence made it even more obvious

Interesting article in the LA Times, enlightens us further to the US interests behind the scenes of the coup in Honduras. But not just interests, the role of US Public Relations Firms, who through their spoon fed lackey's in the main stream media have Americans actually believing that Zeleya was ousted because of a referendum!

Americans, relying on media reports, are likely to believe that Zelaya was ousted because he tried to use a referendum to extend his term of office. This is false.
The article: The high-powered hidden support for Honduras' coup

If we add together the high-powered lobbyists from the Clinton camp, Republican members of Congress and conservatives within the State Department, the coup government has a lot of support from Washington.
Like I have said, several times already, this was obvious. The support from Washington.

From the use of SOA graduates, to the ability of the illegitimate government to stay in power.

They had the means and the might to overthrow a democratically elected leaders and deny him his place in his own country. These powers came from elsewhere, most definitely not, from the Honduran people.

Swine Flu - Put into perspective

The US has decided that counting actual cases of swine flu, real confirmed cases is no longer necessary. I saw that reported this week, sadly I can't find the news story. Anyone out there??

It is not surprising anyway, as this is what the WHO has urged. Canada announced last week it would not tally confirmed cases anymore. I covered this and more in a previous post here.

This week Canada follows the US in urging blanket immunity for the drug makers, again read my previous post, this is addressed.

It is being urged that taxpayers pay for any bad reactions from the flu shot. Bad reactions being death, paralysis stuff like that.

In this news article Swine flu vaccine will need compensation rules

A leading health expert is calling for a "no-fault" compensation scheme, that means no fault for big pharma, and all the fault of the taxpayers of Canada.

A leading public health expert is calling on Canada to create a no-fault compensation program for people who may be harmed by a swine flu vaccine that millions of Canadians will be urged by the government to get this fall.

Read on friends, read on....

Public Health Agency of Canada officials acknowledged last week there won't be time for a swine flu vaccine to go through standard safety testing before immunizations begin in the fall.
Exposed to an incompletely tested vaccine, that means john and jane doe get to be the guinea pigs.

Children and adults could be exposed to an incompletely tested vaccine and that a compensation scheme is needed to encourage the public to buy into any mass immunization program.

And you need to know you will be compensated so you will "buy" into a mass immunization program. Weird words eh?
If we were really in need of this, would we need to be sold on the necessity, so we could buy into it? I mean if people were dropping like flies wouldn't this be obvious to us?

Put into perspective:

World swine flu deaths top 700

700 deaths world wide, in a population of billions and billions.
There are now over 125,000 laboratory-confirmed cases of swine flu worldwide in a population of billions and billions.

Put into perspective:

Regular flu kills hundreds of thousands annually, without the hysteria and despite all the vaccines.

Worldwide, the annual death toll from the flu is estimated to be between 250,000 and 500,000.

Put into perspective:

And if you think Tamiflu is going to help?? Think again.
This isn't really new for Tamiflu either, amongst other serious problems with Tamiflu

And after you have read through this all, and put it all into perspective, I will lastly point you to this interesting read Annual Number of flu deaths: it’s a guess

Maybe that is why WHO doesn't want to track actual cases anymore? Perhaps it is preferential to guess at really high numbers to justify mass immunizations that are very profitable for drug companies?

I do not want to tell anyone how to take care of their health. But ask yourself the question, is this flu worthy of all the hysteria and hype?

Global Power-Global Government and the role of Central Banks

If your at all interested in school shootings check the post below for the latest. I think there has been a great deal of interest in that topic along the vein of a 'manchurian candidate' kind of creation - think mkultra without the LSD? Perhaps with the psychic driving, who the hell knows? But if central banks and global governance is your thing........

Heard the most fabulous interview on RBN with the author of this piece Andrew Marshall.
Central Banks and how they work? Private interests- Yes
Interest of individual citizens-NO
The interview was excellent, sadly I cannot link to it.
But this article covers much of the ground covered in the interview.
I highly, highly recomend it

whet the whistle with this intro:

Humanity is on the verge of entering into the most tumultuous period in our history. The prospects of a global depression, the likes of which have never been seen before; a truly global war, on a scale never before imagined; and societal collapse, for which nations of the world are building totalitarian police states to control populations; are increasing by the day. The major global trend forecasters are sounding the alarms on economic depression, war, a return to fascism and a total reorganization of society. Through crisis, we are seeing the reorganization of the global political economy, and the transformation of capitalism into a totalitarian capitalist world government. Capitalism has never stayed the same through its history; it has always changed and will continue to do so. Its changes are explained and analyzed through political-economic theory, both mainstream theory and critical. The changes are undertaken over years, decades and centuries. The next phase of capitalism is one in which the world moves to a state-controlled economic system, much like China, of totalitarian capitalism.

The global political economy itself is being reorganized into a world government body, consisting of one center of global power where the socio-political-economic power of the world is centralized in one institution. This is not a conspiracy theory; it is a reality. Nor is this a subject confined to the realm of “internet conspiracy theorists,” but in fact, the concept of world government originates and evolves throughout the history of capitalism and the global political economy. Mainstream and critical political-economic theory has addressed the concept of world government for centuries.

The notion of a world government has such a long history, as the forces driving the world into such a structure intertwine with the history of the modern global political economy itself. The purpose of this report is to examine the history of the global political economy in taking steps toward forming a world government, in both theory and practice.

How did we get here and where are we going?

Interesting update Virginia Tech shooter

Suddenly his mental health records have been found!

In the home of the university clinic's former director??
This just leads to even more questions about this case!

All the information released today comes from a memo informing victims family members of the discovery.
The memo claims medical records were removed a year before the shooting.
Why? Why would the clinics former director remove the records from the school?
Why does the memo make the claim they were moved a year before the shooting?
What proof is there to back up this assertation?
How does anyone know the records weren't removed right after the shooting?
Was the school hiding something?

The recovery of the records, which eluded a vast criminal investigation two years ago, was first announced by Kaine at a news conference on Wednesday.

How on earth is that possible?

The discovery calls into question the thoroughness of the criminal probe two years ago

It calls into question the criminal probe alright? Was it a probe or something else?

"Deception comes to my mind in my first response,"said Suzanne Grimes, whose son Kevin Sterne was injured in the shootings.

"To say it doesn't make sense is an injustice," she said. "It gives me the impression: 'What else are they hiding?'"

Yes, what else is being hidden?

Coup in Honduras: Canada plays along

The longer the democratically elected leader is out of the country, the less likely that he will come back as anything but a leader beholden to outside interests. Most certainly US interests.
I have already made the case that the US is behind this coup, I stand by it, despite the empty rhetoric of the Obama administration. If you have read the links you will understand where I am coming from.
Some of the latest news has Honduras sliding into disarray. This is unfortunate, but it serves the interests of the powerful and the heavy hand of the military backed regime in Honduras.

And where is Canada in all this?

Well you will be interested to know, Canada did not support the call for reinstatement of the democratically elected leader of Honduras. Surprised? You shouldn't be. Canada is like 'coups are us', if the US is behind the coup, Canada is behind the US.
Which ultimately makes them supporters of the coup!
See Canada's role in Haiti's coup.

The group Common Frontiers of Canada has an interesting letter:

CF to PM: Canada must support calls for reinstatement of Honduras President

Dear Prime Minister Harper;

Canada stands virtually alone among the countries that make up this hemisphere in refusing to call for the immediate and unconditional reinstatement of Manuel Zelaya as president of Honduras. In 2007, when your government announced its new policy focus on the Americas, it promised to promote Canadian values such as human rights, democracy, prosperity and security for all. The recent coup in Honduras has shattered these values by putting the population there at risk, by gutting democracy, and by denying the majority of the population their hopes and dreams for leaving behind a history of poverty and neglect that were raised as a result of the modest reforms instituted under President Zelaya.

- Read the entire letter (PDF)

Here is the latest from Canada regarding the coup, which boils down to - Zeleya, stay away!

Canada’s Minister of State of Foreign Affairs, Peter Kent said deposed Honduran President Manuel Zelaya should not return to the Central American country until a solution has been found to the crisis.
“A return to Honduras should only occur when a peaceful solution has been found and conditions are appropriate,”
Kent said in an e-mailed statement today.
“A return to Honduras prior to a negotiated resolution is strongly discouraged. Actions resulting in violence will not be in the best interests of the people of Honduras.”

Incredible spin isn't it? So the democratically elected leader, chosen by the people should not return until a 'solution' has been found?
You only need a solution to a problem if there is one, Zeleya won the election, he leads, no problem.

The comment about from Peter Kent about actions resulting in violence not being in the best interests of the Honduran people, is just over the top!
So the military overthrow which resulted in violence being perpetuated is ok, but if the elected leader comes back that is not ok?

Swine flu tracking not necessary, mass vaccinations & immunity for big pharma

The World Health Organisation wants countries to stop counting H1N1 cases citing these justifications:

1.The WHO says the spread of the pandemic, within affected countries and to new countries, is considered inevitable and unstoppable
2. The WHO says the counting of individual cases is now no longer essential for monitoring either the level or nature of the risk posed by the pandemic virus or to guide implementation of the most appropriate response measures.
3. The WHO says monitoring is still needed for unusual events, such as clusters of cases of severe or fatal pandemic infection, clusters of respiratory illness requiring hospitalization, or unexplained or unusual clinical patterns associated with serious or fatal cases.
4. WHO also claims health services are having difficulty coping with cases mean that such systems are under stress but they may also be a signal of increasing cases or a more severe clinical picture - but a strategy that concentrates on the detection, laboratory confirmation and investigation of all cases, including those with mild illness, is extremely resource-intensive

Number 1 is an assumption and really nothing more. Yet, while they assume this is the case the WHO has not even suggested a travel ban??? Why?

"The global travel and tourism industry welcomes the news that, despite the move to phase 6 pandemic status of the A(H1N1) influenza virus, the UN Secretary-General and the World Health Organization have both recommended against restrictions on travel and border closures,"
Pretty strange considering the WHO's assumption?

On to Number 2: How is it that it is no longer necessary to monitor individual cases for the level or nature of risk? What justifies this decision? Especially with regards to .......

Number 3: If monitoring is still needed for "unusual events", how then are unusual events to be determined if not through monitoring of individual cases, which is no longer needed?
Because unusual events would have to be determined by an inordinate number of individual cases, which are no longer being counted. Since the individual cases are no longer being counted how then would an unusual event be identified?? Which leads us to .......
Number 4, WHO claims that all this individual monitoring is resource intensive and therefore has to be stopped, but, how else would one monitor a pandemic? It is also known that, according to the WHO itself, this pandemic has been characterized by the mildness of symptoms in the overwhelming majority of patients.

So by reading through this information I am left to ponder?

There have been NO travel restrictions, the majority of H1N1 cases are mild, the WHO says stop counting, monitoring no longer needed.
Is it possible that a so called 'pandemic' could be manufactured, with the media's help of course, and massive immunizations justified?
After all, who is counting cases anymore? Not Canada.
Canada is following the advice of the World Health Organization and is giving up counting individual H1N1 cases. Read that here.
And yet, there is indeed talk of massive flu vaccinations in Canada.

The decision about whether to undertake a mass vaccination of Canadians against swine flu has been all but taken, the country's chief public health officer said Thursday.

Dr. David Butler-Jones said given the behaviour of the new H1N1 virus and the risk it poses, there is little chance Canada wouldn't push ahead with a vaccination program in the fall.

Pause for a moment and watch this video Dr. Neil Rau, an infectious disease doctor, from Toronto, ON, Canada. He talks about the previous round of swine flu vaccines administered in 1976. What is most interesting he says "I personally would not be lining up to get the vaccine until I knew more about it"

In 1976 massive immunizations were doled out but no pandemic materialized.

The episode triggered an enduring public backlash against flu vaccination, embarrassed the federal government and cost the director of the CDC his job.

In 1976, more people died from the flu shot, then from the flu. One death at Fort Dix (as if that isn't suspicious enough) led to 24% of the population being innoculated. 3 seniors died on the very day the received there shots. Then there was the Guillan-Barre syndrome, 500 cases of it, that left people paralyzed.

Here is a sampling of commercials promoting the swine flu shot in 1976

Swine Flu Vaccination Propaganda from 1976

Oh and one more thing, if the swine flu vaccines make you sick, paralyzes you, or kills a loved one, you will have no recourse.
In 1976 people could sue for damages.
In 2009, the government is way ahead of the curve, and the manufacturers of swine flu vaccines have legal immunity. Don't believe me, well read this..
Legal immunity set for swine flu vaccine makers
ATLANTA — The last time the government embarked on a major vaccine campaign against a new swine flu, thousands filed claims contending they suffered side effects from the shots. This time, the government has already taken steps to head that off.

Vaccine makers and federal officials will be immune from lawsuits that result from any new swine flu vaccine, under a document signed by Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, government health officials said Friday.

Spin or propaganda, revolutions and missile 'defence'

Just some articles you may have missed but there pretty interesting.

The first deals with the use of propaganda, the extensive use of it, daily. How it has affected society at large.

The Truth Alone Will Not Set You Free
By Chris Hedges

The ability of the corporate state to pacify the country by extending credit and providing cheap manufactured goods to the masses is gone. The pernicious idea that democracy lies in the choice between competing brands and the freedom to accumulate vast sums of personal wealth at the expense of others has collapsed. The conflation of freedom with the free market has been exposed as a sham. The travails of the poor are rapidly becoming the travails of the middle class, especially as unemployment insurance runs out and people get a taste of Bill Clinton’s draconian welfare reform. And class warfare, once buried under the happy illusion that we were all going to enter an age of prosperity with unfettered capitalism, is returning with a vengeance.

Our economic crisis—despite the corporate media circus around the death of Michael Jackson or Gov. Mark Sanford’s marital infidelity or the outfits of Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest incarnation, BrĂ¼no—barrels forward. And this crisis will lead to a period of profound political turmoil and change. Those who care about the plight of the working class and the poor must begin to mobilize quickly or we will lose our last opportunity to save our embattled democracy. The most important struggle will be to wrest the organs of communication from corporations that use mass media to demonize movements of social change and empower proto-fascist movements such as the Christian right.

The other an opinion as espoused by Mikhail Gorbachev.
Because, I like a variety of opinions.
It's time for a second American revolution in the spirit of perestroika

In the West, the break-up of the Soviet Union was viewed as a total victory that proved that the West did not need to change. Western leaders were convinced that they were at the helm of the right system and of a well-functioning, almost perfect economic model. Scholars opined that history had ended. The dogma of free markets, deregulation and balanced budgets at any cost was force-fed to the rest of the world.

But then came the economic crisis of 2008 and 2009, and it became clear that the new Western model was an illusion that benefited chiefly the very rich. Statistics show that the poor and the middle class saw little or no benefit from the economic growth of the past decades.

One, on missile defence and the recent meeting between the US and Russia

Although Obama and Medvedev pledged to work for a nuclear weapons free world this spring, they failed to take meaningful steps at their July summit to put the world on the proper path to nuclear abolition. Disappointingly, they only agreed to minor cuts in their respective weapons arsenals due to US unwillingness to cancel its plans to put missile and radar bases in Poland and the Czech Republic which Russia views as a threat to its security. Essentially we have come full circle to the 1986 Reagan-Gorbachev summit at Reykjavik, when negotiations for the total abolition of nuclear weapons tragically collapsed because Reagan wouldn't give up U.S. plans for a Strategic Defense Initiative to dominate space.

Clinton similarly rejected opportunities to take up Putin's proposal to cut our nuclear arsenals to 1,000 warheads. After Russia's ratification of START II and the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty in 2000, Putin called for new talks to reduce long-range missiles from 3,500 to 1,500 or even 1,000, upping the ante from planned levels of 2,500 warheads. This forward-looking proposal was accompanied by Putin's stern caveat that all Russian offers would be off the table if the United States proceeded to build a National Missile Defense (NMD) in violation of the ABM Treaty. Astoundingly, U.S. diplomatic "talking points" leaked by Russia to the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists revealed that Clinton was urging Russia it had nothing to fear from NMD as long as Russia kept 2,500 weapons at launch-on-warning, hair-trigger alert.

Russia had nothing to fear from missile defense has long as they kept 2,500 weapons at launch on warning, hair trigger alert??? Odd isn't that?

CSIS slammed for handling of Khadr

Canada shows it's cards and it ain't holding anything, Canada has bluffed on human rights.
No surprise here.

CSIS failed in Khadr case, review finds

"In Canadian society, there is long-standing recognition that young people should be treated differently than adults because they have not attained certain decision-making skills and therefore require special protection and guidance," the report concluded.

Khadr was just 15 yrs old when he was kidnapped in Afghanistan, taken to a detention camp there, tortured for 4o days.
Used to mop a floor.

"We also know he was used as a human mop to mop up urine"

We know he was tortured because his so called "interrogator" and make no mistake that means torturer, was convicted in a torture death.

Sgt. Joshua Claus- convicted in prisoners torture death

Human rights groups are incensed about a startling revelation this week that one of Canadian Omar Khadr's chief interrogators was a U.S. soldier involved in the horrific case of an Afghan prisoner who was tortured to death. Sgt. Joshua Claus's name came out in a Guantanamo Bay courtroom on Thursday, a slip by the judge in Khadr's case that fuelled defence assertions he may have been coerced during interrogation sessions after his July 2002 capture in Afghanistan

May have been coerced? Safe to say he was coerced, beaten, hog tied, used as a mop, and god knows what else???

Claus's involvement with Khadr is doubly troubling, said defence lawyer Lt.-Cmdr. William Kuebler, because the Canadian was just 15 years old and severely wounded in the firefight in which a U.S. Special Forces soldier was killed.

Just thinking, maybe Canada should get herself a new anthem, one more reflective of the reality of a country that allows it minors to be kidnapped and abused, it's citizens to be tortured in foreign countries and foreigners to be tasered to death at an airport. To name but a few of the most recent bad behaviors indulged in by Canadians in authority, politicians, law enforcement and others. It is sad really.

Lament for Canada:

Oh, Canada
Our home and native land,
True patriot love
Maybe once could it command.
Yet, With heavy hearts
We see thee fall,
The true, north, weak and bound.
Abuse and Lies
Oh Canada
We feel the police state rise
We should keep our land
Glorious and free.
Oh, Canada ?
What has become of thee?

Israeli attack: no humanity, no restraint, illegal use of Palestinians as human shields

A round up articles from around the globe:

Shoot First and Worry About Consequences Later (consequences? what consequences?)

Israeli soldiers say :Humanity Absent in Gaza

IDF used Gazans as human shields: nothing new there

Despite a 2005 Israeli High Court ruling outlawing the practice

Thursday, 6 October 2005,
JERUSALEM - Israel's army must stop using Palestinian civilians as "human shields" in operations against suspected Palestinian militants, the Israeli Supreme Court ruled on Thursday.

Palestinian and Israeli human-rights watchdog groups had sought the ruling. The court's decision that the practice is illegal under international law hardened a temporary injunction issued in 2002.

"The army has no right to use civilians as human shields ... It is cruel and barbaric," Supreme Court Justice Aharon Barak wrote in a 20-page judgment.

3 Global scenarios-Choosing the world we want ?

This article originally appeared in Futurist magazine, 10 years ago!

Just the title of this piece! Choosing the world we want? Who is the 'we'?
Exactly whom is doing the choosing? Are you choosing? Am I? Is anyone asking us at all?
The date 2050, why?
Is this how the choosers think the world should look like by 2050?

The three scenarios "Market World, Fortress World, or Transformed World?"
Who or where did these 3 scenarios come from? What about other scenarios?
Is this what the push for globalisation is about? Besides just business, the organization of all the people who live on the planet? Where will we, any of the rest of us fit into this?

The elites of the globe do seem to think ahead. I say the elites because it certainly isn't the vast majority. We are to busy surviving.

I have been wanting to repost this one for a while now. It comes from way back on my blog, but, given current events it seems to be gaining relevancy.
Long article, well worth the read. Kind of creepy. Makes you wonder about your so called freedom?

Deal signed to construct Nabucco pipeline

The US backed Nabucco pipeline is being built to cut Russia out of the European market.

However Russia is looking to construct two new pipelines. The North Stream and the South Stream. See map below:

The Turkish government wants Iranian gas to be transported through the Nabucco pipeline.
The US however, has different ideas. They do not want Iranian gas to flow through until relations between the US and Iran have been "normalized"

U.S. special energy envoy Richard Morningstar on Sunday reiterated Washington's opposition to possible use of Iranian gas in Nabucco until Washington normalizes relations with Tehran.

Normalizing, as in attack and get the puppet goverment in place??

Turkey would also like to see Russia's oil transported through Nabucco

Erdogan also said he believed Russian gas could be transported to the European markets via Nabucco.
A little more on Russian and Iran being involved as per Turkey's wishes

Why would he suggest that? Is he playing politics? Would this oil be coming from a future balkanized Russia? Or is Turkey keeping all options on the table?

Interstingly, while the Nabucco pipeline can bypass Russian supplies, the Nabucco pipeline has no firm suppliers to fill it with gas.

Nabucco transit deal nice, but where's the gas?

It seems Russia has a firm, committed supplier for it's pipeline. It's Azerbaijan.

"Russia on the other hand clinched a major natural gas deal with Azerbaijan to buy 500 million cubic meters of gas annually starting next year just two weeks ago"

Azerbaijan is Indicating they could supply to more then one gas pipeline project

The head of Azerbaijan's State Oil and Gas Company on Friday said his country's gas reserves are rich enough to supply more than one gas pipeline project

"Azerbaijan's gas reserves are very rich, we can supply gas to each project separately,"

Covering all the bases, I guess?

And then their is Georgia, a vital hub in the pipeline politics game.
The US puppet of Georgia, sorry, I mean the President of Georgia (the country, not the state) is in Ankara for the Nabucco talks

“The project of such scale among so many players has not been implemented in this region yet and this is a very interesting step forward,” President Saakashvili told the summit in the Turkish capital

Wondering if the signing of the gas agreement between Russia and Azerbaijan hastened the signing of the Nabucco deal. Not to say the deal wasn't coming anyway, just, that it had to be signed onto a little quicker then was practical?

US Russian Summit- no real accomplishment

An interesting overview on the recent Russia/US meeting. It is a very long article, I am going to put excerpts here only, but give the entire article a read.

The U.S.-Russian Summit Turns Routine

The Moscow summit between U.S. President Barack Obama, Russian President Dmitri Medvedev and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has ended. As is almost always the case, the atmospherics were good, with the proper things said on all sides and statements and gestures of deep sincerity made. And as with all summits, those atmospherics are like the air: insubstantial and ultimately invisible. While there were indications of substantial movement, you would have needed a microscope to see them.

An agreement was reached on what an agreement on nuclear arms reduction might look like, but we do not regard this as a strategic matter. The number of strategic warheads and delivery vehicles is a Cold War issue that concerned the security of each side’s nuclear deterrent. We do not mean to argue that removing a thousand or so nuclear weapons is unimportant, but instead that no one is deterring anyone these days, and the risk of accidental launch is as large or as small whether there are 500 or 5,000 launchers or warheads. Either way, nuclear arms’ strategic significance remains unchanged. The summit perhaps has created a process that could lead to some degree of confidence. It is not lack of confidence dividing the two countries, however, but rather divisions on fundamental geopolitical issues that don’t intersect with the missile question.

The Fundamental Issues

There are dozens of contentious issues between the United States and Russia, but in our mind three issues are fundamental.

First, there is the question of whether Poland will become a base from which the United States can contain Russian power, or from the Russian point of view, threaten the former Soviet Union. The ballistic missile defense (BMD) system that the United States has slated for Poland does not directly affect that issue, though it symbolizes it. It represents the U.S. use of Polish territory for strategic purposes, and it is something the Russians oppose not so much for the system’s direct or specific threat — which is minimal — but for what it symbolizes about the Americans’ status in Poland. The Russians hoped to get Obama to follow the policy at the summit that he alluded to during his campaign for the U.S. presidency: namely, removing the BMD program from Poland to reduce tensions with Russia.

Second, there is the question of Iran. This is a strategic matter for the United States, perhaps even more pressing since the recent Iranian election. The United States badly needs to isolate Iran effectively, something impossible without Russian cooperation. Moscow has refused to join Washington on this issue, in part because it is so important to the United States. Given its importance to the Americans, the Russians see Iran as a lever with which they can try to control U.S. actions elsewhere. The Americans do not want to see Russian support, and particularly arms sales, to Iran. Given that, the Russians don’t want to close off the possibility of supporting Iran. The United States wanted to see some Russian commitments on Iran at the summit.

And third, there is the question of U.S. relations with former Soviet countries other than Russia, and the expressed U.S. desire to see NATO expand to include Ukraine and Georgia. The Russians insist that any such expansion threatens Russian national security and understandings with previous U.S. administrations. The United States insists that no such understandings exist, that NATO expansion doesn’t threaten Russia, and that the expansion will continue. The Russians were hoping the Americans would back off on this issue at the summit.

Creating artificial scarcity

This is the Enron game. It appears oil companies can play too!
What to do, what to do when the price of oil keeps dropping? Oh yes, close some refineries and create a shortage to drive prices upward and increase profits massively.

Shell might close massive Montreal refinery

Gas shortage?

Rocheleau says customers would feel the pinch if Shell closes the massive refinery, explaining that the supply of gas would be curtailed.

"There's already a shortage of ... gas right now so if they close one refinery, that just will increase the shortage."

To bad for you and me, cause we will be paying.......

Laurel Canyon-more sordidness, including David Carradine

After a long absence from the Laurel Canyon scene, I'm back at it. Got to hear Dave as usual on Meria Heller show, yeah! He talked about the latest installment which you can read on his site.

If you wondered where all this began for Dave, well, it began with this book-
Laurel Canyon-Michael Walker. You can read some of the book at that link. Anyway, Dave was saying this book was just supposed to be some light vacation reading, he was mistaken. As he read it, there were just so many red flags that kept waving at him, he became compelled to do some digging. Actually, lots of digging.

One interesting item he brought up was the death of David Carradine. David Carradine who recently died under some very strange circumstances.
It is interesting to note, that Carradines wrists were bound.
"Police reported that the actor's body was found nude, with ropes around his neck, wrist and genitals"

Seems it would make hanging himself more difficult?

One thing McGowan pointed out, is that the Carradine death was similar to the death of Michael Hutchence, INXS frontman. Who also allegedly hung himself. At the age of 37. Interestingly, not long after his death, the mother of his only child Paula Yates allegedly died of a drug overdose.(Jim Morrison's deceased spouse Pamela comes to my mind here) Even stranger their child was adopted and raised by Mr. Feed the World, who was knighted by the Queen , Bob Geldof.
This despite the Hutchence family not being in agreement with this arrangement.
Which all does seem really odd.....

But, back to David Carradine. You will never guess where it is David Carradine hailed from?

Photo date: 1972 David Carradine at home in Laurel Canyon

Yup, Laurel Canyon, that surreal place, where nothing is as it seems.
Laurel Canyon where strangeness abounds, and Carradine was strange.
Check out this People magazine article

"At 55, the man who once packed his mental baggage for 500 acid trips and trashed a neighbor's Laurel Canyon home while stark naked has lost none of his contrarian esprit."
Acid trips and trashing homes while naked!? This is the stuff that Dave McGowans Laurel Canyon series has been made of. Apparently Dave is going to do a little digging in that direction.

He also mentioned Eugene Landy, Dr Eugene Landy. Some kind of 'shrink' to the stars.
Gig Young & Alice Cooper who are both mentioned in Dave's piece were 'aided' by this man.
Gig Young committed suicide allegedly, killing his wife beforehand. Alice Cooper, well, whatever.
Most definitely a loud mouthed Republican, pretending to be a rebel.

Landy was particularly linked with Beach Boys Brian Wilson in a really strange, creepy way. Landy had allegedly weaned Wilson off of drugs, but what it seemed he really had done was just got him taking alot of different drugs instead, and helping himself to Wilson's money.

"At first, Landy earned credit for weaning the musician off the drugs, alcohol and junk-food binges that had swollen his body and dampened his creativity. But by the late 1980s, after Landy eased into the role of his patient's co-writer, co-producer and financial manager, the psychologist became the target of lawsuits and a government investigation. In the early 1990s Landy surrendered his psychologist's licence and was barred from contacting Wilson. The episode proved so explosive that, even 15 years later, the central figures in the drama - Landy, Wilson, the minders hired to enforce the psychologist's rules, musicians and collaborators - usually refused to speak about it on the record. "I can't say anything, because you just don't know what Landy's going to do,"

I can't say anything, because I just don't know what Landy will do??
Doctor or tyrant? I don't know? Maybe, something else entirely?

Dr. Eugene Landy also 'treated' Maureen McCormick. She did not seem to think he was very helpful.
He was not a good man. He put me on so many drugs I didn't know if I was coming or going.
Much like his treatment of Brian Wilson.

Ooops sorry, just one more item I need to mention regarding Dr Eugene Landy.
The so called "shrink to the stars" and legal drug pusher had another accomplishment under his belt. He wrote a book. The Underground Dictionary. Published in 1971, it was a dictionary allegedly of 'hippie jargon'. I did look for any links to it. It seems to be for sale as a used book by various book sellers. I wonder if he wrote it to gain a foothold in Laurel Canyon musical scene?
To give himself some sort of credibility, as a hip doctor of sorts. Like Timothy Leary perhaps? Maybe even with intelligence connections, as Dave McGowan speculates. It is possible, who really knows?

All in all, as usual I must say, Laurel Canyon is weird. You know that saying, truth is stranger then fiction, well in Laurel Canyon never have truer words been spoken.

Robert McNamara has died

Robert McNamara, secretary of defense during the Vietnam War, whose later public expressions of regret for the role he played came too late for many veterans and critics, died today at his home. He was 93.

I best remember him for the movie- The Fog of War
I haven't seen it for some time. If you have never seen it, it is worth watching.

Bird Offspring and their protective mothers

It is picture time! A nice little break from the usual. If you have been hanging out at his blog for a while, you may have experienced the birth of the first clutch of Dove family eggs. I posted the pics here and here

Well since the first we have had a second and our now waiting for our obviously frisky Dove mates, to hatch a third, yes a third nest of eggs.

They have two eggs each time. The first saw only one egg hatch. The second had two little Dove babies. Pictured below with the mother bird.

Now, the third time, two eggs, no hatching yet.

Hopefully, the doves will have two babies again, for a total of 5 babies this season.
From what I have read Mourning doves, can have 5 - 6 clutches a season. So they are half way there!

While I am on the baby subject. Check these cuties out. Baby Mallards.

Mallard mom is close by

Soon her tolerance of us has reached it's limit. She takes the entire brood of eight ducklings into the water.

Ah, sometimes one just has to take a break from the madness in the world and appreciate nature. It is a beautiful thing! Enjoy the break from the madness, please.

US to hold firm on missile shield

which is really about defense, in the sense of defending after a first strike?
read here

In advance of Pres. Obama’s first trip to Russia next week, the White House is serving notice on the Kremlin that he won’t be making any concessions to win its approval of a U.S. missile shield in Europe or membership in NATO for Russian neighbors Ukraine and Georgia.

“We don’t need the Russians,” says Michael McFaul, special assistant to the president and senior director for Russian affairs on the National Security Council staff.

“We’re definitely not going to use the word reassure in the way that we talk about these things,” said McFaul. “We’re not going to reassure or give or trade anything with the Russians regarding NATO expansion or missile defense.”

He said Pres. Obama will talk “very frankly” with Medvedev about U.S. national security interests and “see if there are ways we can have Russia cooperate on those things.”

Pres. Obama has pledged to reset U.S. relations with Russia, but McFaul said there’d be no concessions on missile defense or NATO “in the name of reset.”

Obama, the wolf in sheeps clothing.
check the picture out with this article. It is as if Obama is wagging his fingers at Medvedev.
It fits well the tone of the article, and is good for propaganda purposes.
Yo, Americans puff your chest out!

Does the US back the coup in Honduran coup?

Well, from where I am sitting, it looks like it.
From the Guardian

The Obama administration's condemnation of the coup in Honduras has been lukewarm compared to the rest of the world

I called it lipservice, but lukewarm works too.

But some country's responses have been more reluctant than others, and Washington's ambivalence has begun to raise suspicions about what the US government is really trying to accomplish in this situation.
Give the article a read, see what ya think. Glad I am not the only one noticing that lack of real condemnation from the Obama administration.

Obama for Change/Obama for Peace, or so the slogans went, reality is vastly different.

Sarkozy: The insecure male

I haven't waded into the whole Sarkozy/Burka nonsense, save for certain new sites message boards.... But, I came across this and I did like this perspective. Give it a read.

Demonizing Honduras Leader to justify the coup

Today, are we witnessing the beginning of the spin, with this report out of
Bogota, Columbia of all places????
The deposed President of Honduras accused of drug ties

The regime that overthrew the democratically elected leaders of Honduras claims they have proof, and that neighbouring countries, like Columbia, have proof also. And apparently so does the DEA. Which would neither confirm nor deny the report.
Columbia, the client state of the US, has evidence of this allegation?

All it would take is one word from the US, one very stern word and the democratically elected leader of Honduras would be back where he belongs. In his own country. That has not happened.
Is it going to? I don't see it at this point in time. We can hold out hope for democracy and for the people of Honduras.
But despite the media spin ....the US did not really condemn the coup, see here. Despite their considerable influence in the region! The Obama administration merely paid lip service to the incident. To quote Ms Clinton when asked if it was a priority to see Zeleya back in power, she responded "We haven't laid out any demands that we're insisting on, because we're working with others on behalf of our ultimate objectives."
I am not getting an indication of condemnation from that.
How about this one?
John D. Negroponte, said Clinton's remarks appeared to reflect U.S. reluctance to see Zelaya returned unconditionally to power.
You think?

I am getting out my crystal ball here. It is a little hazy but let's see what it shows us.

Obama will claim that yes, it appears that drugs were being smuggled and he cannot mess in the domestic politics of Honduras. If this is the will of the people of Honduras, which it isn't, but the mainstream media will spin it that way.

Even though his administration, most likely in collusion with the US client state Columbia, and School of America's graduate Romeo Vasquez, have indeed, messed with the domestic politics of Honduras.
