This meeting should result in some real magical language useage via the war mongering media
Should be interesting!
“The rise of Islamic State in northern Iraq, in northern Syria, has effectively destabilized the southern border of Turkey. But also domestically, the threat of terrorism has become very real,” Lete told The Associated Press.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, who will chair the closed-door session, said Turkey requested it following recent “heinous terrorist attacks,”
After months of reluctance, Turkish warplanes last week started striking militant targets in Syria and entered a long-awaited agreement which allows the U.S. to launch its own strikes from Turkey’s strategically located Incirlik Air Base.
The official NATO announcement of Tuesday’s meeting of alliance ambassadors said one of the reasons Turkey sought it was to explain “the measures it is taking.” Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told reporters Monday he would spell out in detail the security threats his country faces.
“We expect solidarity and support from our NATO allies,” he said, without elaborating.Turkey isn't going to get solidarity or support. Not really, despite the magic that will be spoken into your reality.
“There is no difference between PKK and Daesh. You can’t say that PKK is better because it is fighting Daesh,” Cavusoglu said. There is no difference between the PKK and Daesh aka ISIS. None what so ever.....
The US and Turkey have no agreement on a no fly zone in Northern Syria
Ahead of a hastily called NATO meeting, a senior Obama administration official told CNN on Monday (July 27) there is no agreement with Turkey to establish a no-fly zone in the country. An yet one would think the US would want a no fly zone ... Iraq redux
The area the U.S. is considering a "safe zone" is on the Turkish border that, he said, is "still controlled by ISIS."
"The problem is this is an area being bombed almost daily by the Syrian air force," he said. "So what happens when we set up a safe zone there and the Syrians want to conduct operations against people we're supporting? Are we going to go head-to-head with the Syrian air force? So this is setting up a real dangerous situation."""The problem is this is an area being bombed almost daily by the Syrian air force,"
Excuse me for pointing out the bullshit, but, isn't that the reason for a no fly zone? So the "offending" nation can't fly and drop bombs? Oh the lies, the lies, lies.........
The problem is the US/NATO planes are already bombing Syria in the north of Syria (I've covered this repeatedly) The type of zone Turkey want's would impede the US bombing, land clearing, ethnic cleansing campaign they are presently involved in with the Kurdish militias.
Information on daily US airstrikes made in Syria dating back to October 2014
As of 1 October, U.S. and partner nation attack aircraft have flown over 1,700 strike sorties in support of operations against ISIL targets in Iraq and Syria using over 800 munitions against 322 targets.Whose bombing northern Syria daily? If even half of those over 1700 bombing runs are made in Syria?
