But alliance Secretary General said NATO welcomes the countries' aspirations to join. "We agree today that these countries will become members of NATO," he said.
hey but at least their aspirations to join are welcomed? Which really means nothing.
Sarkozy andwere concerned about provoking , which has warned of a new East-West crisis if NATO takes in the two republics. Both are on Russia's southwestern border, across key east-west oil and gas routes.
In other words , France and Germany could be left with no oil or gas.
So that was definitely a smart move on their part , if they want to remain in office that is.
